I have bought a Asus AV8-E Deluxe K8T890 motherboard. It supports PC3200 Ram but not PC3500 Ram. Now i can buy 2*512 Kingston HyperX PC3200 or PC3500 Ram. The price diffrence is very minimal.

The site where i buy the Ram says that the PC3500 Ram is compitable with PC3200. Now if i buy the PC3500 Ram will they work at PC3500 speed, PC3200 speed or even lower?

It will run at PC3200 unless you overclock the memory, which is the point when buying expensive memory and memory rated more than PC3200.

For that matter, buying HyperX or other high end PC3200 isn't a good use of money unless you are planning on OCing. You'd be better off putting that money into a better vid card or CPU.

Of course, if you do OC, good fast RAM makes your life so much easier.

Okay okay... I know... Well before you answered i had to order my rig so i chose PC3500 Ram blocks..
So now i just wan't to be sure that they won't run slower than PC3200 Ram... Else i might be able to cancel my order and change it..

The PC 3500 will run at PC3200 unless you bump up the FSB. When you do that, you'll also OC your proc unless you drop the multiplier. PC3500, that is 216Mhz.

Let's see you have a 3500+. That's 11 x 200FSB =2200Mhz stock.

11 x 216FBS = 2376Mhz

Yeah, you should be able to do that without out any big issues even with a stock heatsink.

If you don't want to OC that much you could do :
10.5 x 216FSB = 2268Mhz Very do-able

Or if you're really worried you could under clock a hair with:
10 x 216FSB = 2160Mhz

Simple math; got to love it. It will be a piece of cake!

Okay... Thanks for the answer

You didn't make any mistake. The PC3500 ram gives you more headroom to OC.

The Asus A8V has a way to automatically OC the chip thru the bios menu. It has steps of 3%, 5%, 7%, and 10%. Most memory can easily handle a 10% OC, which will put the MB at 220 FSB. The MB has a temp monitor called Asus Probe that comes on the CD. Install this program, run it, and you'll see your CPU temperature. Don't go above 65C under full load. You test at full load by running Prime95 torture test. Start at 3% and see how hot your CPU gets. If it's ok, you can go higher, but watch the temps.

You can see my system with a bunch of screen shots and how I OC here.
