Nvidia unlocks G-Sync VRR for AMD graphics cards and games consoles

Thanks to an incoming update, AMD graphics cards may soon be able to enjoy the benefits of Nvidia G-Sync monitors

This just sounds like nVidia is going to kill it off. It never really caught on to begin with, as there was a very limited number of displays that supported it, and it costs a lot more. And while now other companies can use nVidia's technology, they have to implement it themselves. Its not like GSYnc displays will suggenly start working on AMD/Intel hardware.

FreeSync/AdaptiveSync meanwhile is supported by almost every monitor out these days, and by the three main GPU manufacturers. So not only is it an actual ratified standard, but its a de facto standard as well.

This is great news, now maybe NV will do what AMD should have done ages ago and only certify high quality VRR panels with a large range as "Gsync" panels while all the other garbage out there stays "Gsync compatible" or something.

As usual, in AMD's attempt to combat NV with an open standard they diluted their own brand and now NV has the opportunity to ride in looking like a god damn hero. Classic AMD...
