PCI-Express cards

All,

I'm planning to build a new system in the new year and will probably go socket 939. An e-mail from Asus indicates a plan to release their SLI mobo in December which is great.

Trouble is, I kinda decided I wanted a 6800GT after posting here a littel while ago. But here in Australia, the 6800's are all AGP and only the 6600's are PCI express.
Anands recent SLI article used 6800's as well as 6600's, so what's the deal? Is Australia just not getting PCI express 6800's yet, or are they not actually released yet? Could I buy from the US and ship here?

Join the club im waiting for the pci express version of the 6800gt also, and sadly no it hasnt been released in the U.S. I've read some artlices and the closest information I could find on the release date was november, which would probably be late november. But Nvidia is not really doing a good job announcing the release date, the website says its already out but it's not. There is a pci express version of the nvidia 6800gt, but its a gto you can find those on e-bay. But it's a clocked down version, not as many vertex lines and the other pipelines open., thank dell for releasing this little craplet. Well good news is, if dell is starting to sell the 6800 pci x, the other companies should follow suit shortly. I hope.

I have seen the X800 XT and lower versions for PCI-E here in Japan. I haven't seen any of the 6800's other than in AGP as of yet.

That site must be BS btw because those pictures must be edited, it looks exactly like the gainward 6600gt. Just a replaced cooler and an edited picture of box, but what do I know, I cant read Japanese.

That's a 6800 GT alright. I mean look at the size of that thing, it's enormous! Also looks like a dual slot card to me.

hiya folks, search '6800 GTO' under the video part of this forum, is a thread i've contributed to regarding the 6800 GTO from Dell, you can unlock the pipes and shader and ramp up the memory using Rivatuner, gives you GT scores and above, and whats more, its cheaper ;-)
(altho its possible it wont work on every single card, but i think it will on most...)

read the last few pages of the thread for full info on what to do to unlock

edit: btw, the card is SLI ready, so you could pick up two if you get an SLI mobo

Never mind, I correct myself it is out, I found it. eVGA makes it and can be found on zipzoomfly.com for $499 for the 6800 gt version, that is a bit pricey. Also it is on back order status, hopefully they get more soon. As for the picture yah it does look like a 6800 but it looks to similar to the 6600 gt you should check pictures. I went on the gainward web site and they have no information on a 6800 gt pci express version. But im probably wrong, lucky japanese people.
