Hey everybody!
I am a litttle confused about peltiers. Not the technology in the peltiers itself but I would like to know wich peltier I should use for a TBird 750 Mhz. Can I use my Kanie HedgeHog with a "Black" Delta-fan to cool the peltier or would I need some kind of watercooling or VapoChill thing to cool the peltier?

Thanx

I am no expert on pelts due to the fact that I havn't used one yet but I would assume that you would only want to use one of the lower wattage pelts with a heatsink. With water cooling you could use one of the big ones but with just a hedgehog I think one of the low powered ones would be wise.

Actually, I wouldn't try an air-cooled pelt at all on a t-bird. According to everything I've read, you are going to need at least a 120watt pelt to make a dent in the temp of a t-bird. Since that wattage is added to the 50 or so watts the t-bird is already throwing off, you'd need a HSFU that could handle at least 200 watts. AFAIK there is nothing like that available for Socket A.

Like you suggested, water cooling or phase change is the only way to go.

Theoretically you need a peltier with a rating equal to or higher what your CPU draws. For example, if your CPU draws 85 watts of power, you need a peltier with at least that rating. You most likely need a second power supply as well...

I don't think any air-cooled HS is capable to dissipate that much heat, so water cooling would be your only viable option.

Then, you have to start worrying about condensation inside your case, etc., etc...
