Yikes. Not a single one of them demonstrated even the most basic understanding of evolution.

Classic answer: so is gravity, jump off a building and test it for me.

Sad thing is though that people hear a catch phrase and it simplifies things, so they just endlessly repeat it. I've argued that point with family, friends, and co-workers, and time and time again they repeat "it's only a theory!" LOL

Yeah. There are a handful of arguments that people put forth against evolution, and I'd say on average most people don't even understand the arguments.

Not that it would matter to creationists, but I was hoping P&T would elaborate on the part about the rabbit. They seemed as though they were trying to explain what constitutes a theory and what doesn't, but then they went onto another segment.

as an interesting side note; P&T implied that some groups need a consensus to make them right, ie: the rabbit sex issue. Sounds a lot like the global warming people too.

It worked for getting Bush reelected, too. These are people who accept truth from figures they trust, be it a preacher, their parents, or a God-fearing Senator. They accept what these peoplesay as truth and will NOT question it. Often, the more vigorously you argue against their opinion, the more set it in they become, so as to soldify their faith. It's sad they're so opposed to thinking for themselves.

I thought the new term being slung around was neo-lib? That's what I see when some of the hardcore P&Ners infiltrate OT anyway.

neoliberal is a person who wants the free movement of capital and globalization. so, no, it's not neoliberal. neoliberal is actually an older movement than neoconservative (neoconservative is a combination of neoliberal economic policies and interventionalist foreign/military policy)

I agree. I don't want creationism taught in schools and I believe in it. I also don't want evolution taught in schools. Origin theory has nothing to do with a student's grasp of real science its a way for the liberal agenda to force our kids to NOT believe in God as much as creationism is forcing them TO believe in God. I guess you hypocrites can't see that though, huh?

I was taught blind faith when I was a child. I was lucky though, to have a theologist teach religion class my freshman year of high school. I also had a nun teach my economics class that same year. I took everything mom & dad said up to a certain age the same way too.

Without religion, I feel we would of never of amounted to much more then then selfish neanderthals. Religion helped unify people & centralize ideas & theories of this world & beyond. It helped us all focus in one direction, as to better ourselves. Once we felt secure in our surroundings, we've slowly been breaking free of them. It's when we get stuck in our current beliefs, when we are afraid of what might be, that science halters & fanaticism reigns.

There's plenty left that we can't prove through method, so let's not try to kill God off so quickly. We're not mature enough as a people to be able to survive without something more.

Balance is everything.

God could of planted seeds for all we know. Nothing is truly set in stone, & that is supported by both sides in.

Ummmm...?
Okay... seriously though. Creationism is not based on science. Evolution is conclusively based on science. You are talking to a person who used to believe in "Creationism" based on what fundies said, and the more I researched and looked at it, the more I saw that there are serious flaws in their arguments.

Evolution is science much like quantum physics and chemistry is science. Until a scientific viable theory is discovered that debunks evolution as a scientific theory, why shouldn't it be taught in school. Too much proof to say otherwise. It also doesn't invalidate G-d from being in control of the whole process. Also, if you look at the Big Bang theory and the physics behind that as well as a loose conception of the different ages of earth history, it follows the "Creation" story pretty closely.

Evolution does not preclude anyone from believing in God. Evolution precludes people from believing in a fairy tale written over 3000 years ago (Genesis) when people were grasping at straws to explain the world around them.

Evolution is real science therefore it should be taught. Creationism is random ****** thought up on no scientific principles, so you're right, it shouldn't be taught in schools.

Creationism is a simple minded solution for those who aren't capable of understanding evolution. Not many are, yourself included. Future generations shouldn't be deprived of the opportunity to try and understand it.

Too bad the foundations of Biology are in Evolution. Last time I checked Biology is taught in school so you have to teach the foundations of biology and that is what? DING DING DING

Astronomy is also pretty much impossible to teach without accepting Evolution as well.

If you're looking for an amusing read, try reading a Science text book from an evangelical Christian school. It won't take long, since it's a LOT shorter
