If you live in the great state of PA, list the town you live in and work in, and give reasons why you like or dislike those towns.

I've been in PA since I was 13 and I still have little feel for this State. My family never traveled and the most exposure I've had is due to the size of the tier I support and the conferences I visit. There are still a lot of places I haven't been though.

Me:

Work - Williamsport (A small clean city, good colleges, very little crime, unfortunately doesn't have many IT jobs, and mostly service/industrial jobs)
Home - Montoursville (A very nice town in close proximity to the mall, has a large park, good school, is ajdacent to Williamsport and many other towns, lots of rural area, has an airport)

- Rick

(If you live around the borders to PA, like Virginia, NY, Ohio, etc., you can sound off too)

edit:
If you live or work in or near King of Prussia, please PM me, I have a few questions.

It is the final piece of an arch or dome, usually very large in size, that holds everything else in place by its own weight. Visually it looks like everything else is supporting the keystone, but in fact without the keystone the structure will fall apart/in.

That's the stone at the top of an arch which is bearing all the weight. It's holding the whole thing together, so to speak.

I'm not sure what's so great about PA, but I do live there.
I currently live in King Of Prussia, which is best described as "awesome." Home of the largest mall in the USA (I know what you're thinking but Mall Of America has an amusement park in the middle of it, which makes it the largest "mall" but it has less retail space). The largest mall (and lots of other businesses calling KOP home) makes for low taxes. It's got a great school system, and it's close to Philly and NYC.

I work in Chester. Not much good to say about the distressed city of Chester except that hopefully it will start to come back to life in the next few years.

So, then, PA is the state that holds "it" all together? Interesting. But what exactly is "it" that is being supported by your fine state?
I want to get out of FL. Is there room for me there?

I like King of Prussia. It is laid out horizontally rather than vertically - I can't stand cities that cram people into skyscrapers. I've been there for a few security conferences and vendor meetings and didn't have any problems with traffic. I've been trying to convince my firm we should open an office there for our tax staff, because it is such a pain to get to and from the Philly office.

Unityville is about 10 minutes west of Redrock right? I live about 15 minutes east of Redrock. Near the crossing of RT29 and RT118.

Right now, nothing. It is more of a historical phrase I believe back when the U.S. was still being colonized.

Actually, funny that you mention it - for the longest time FL was the state of choice among seniors. But because of the unceasing hurricans and steady increase in crime in that state, PA is now becoming the new retirement haven. The healthcare/retirement industry is booming here.

There is definitely room. PA is actually very rural with very few cities compared to most other states on the east coast. You tell me what industry you work in and I'll tell you what is probably the best place to do that here.

you mean sprawl?

oh, and king of prussia isn't a city... it's a mall at the intersection of three major freeways

the only beef I have with philly is the Schookyl Expressway... it's a freaking disaster... outside of that, there's nothing wrong with philly at all...

I spent 5 nights a week working in that mall during High School. Pretty cool place. I'd be interested in seeing how it developed in the past 13 years. Lived in Phoenixville/Valley Forge, went to school in Radnor and worked in KOP.

It's not really "sprawl" in traditional sense of the word, but the layout is also largely coincidental. Upper Merion/KOP is basically a super-borough that was cobbled together out of a bunch of smaller villages - KOP Proper, Gulph Mills, Swedeland, Swedesburg, Valley Forge, and some others. It's not really a carefully-planned suburban "city" (pardon the oxymoron) as much as it is a geographic catch-all that, luckily, worked out well so far.

This is crazy but...the King Of Prussia Mall...is in....King Of Prussia. Actually it's in Upper Merion, but most of us call the entire area KOP. Compare to: Franklin Mills Mall, Cherry Hill Mall, Echelon Mall, Burlington Mall, Moorestown Mall, Springfield Mall, Deptford Mall, Christiana Mall, Exton Mall....

We have this nasty habit of naming malls for the cities they are in...

You and I both know the only thing wrong with the the Schuykill is that Pennsylvanians don't know how to drive.

I am in lancaster right now...uh oh!

I went to college for a tiny bit in Williamsport....I am not so sure about your statement that its a small and clean city. I do remember it being very dirty and I DO rememeber gun shots being heard more then once from my college dorm. One time it was even a cop that got shot at...to me..that does not equal clean and safe..but hey..maybe its changed in 2 years.
