lived in shoaf, blairsville, state college & new kensington(penn state, duh) greensburg, and oh yeah, I now live and work in uniontown.

My fond memory of Uniontown is getting into an accident at 522/22 intersection. Car making a left turn clipped the back of my car. Punted me over a porkchop island and landed in the nearby gas station. Car that clipped me pulled up, old lady got out of driver's rear door, pulled out a walker so the driver could support herself. 90 year old man in the passenger seat must have had alzheimers, because he was laughing hesterically and continued non-stop. She didn't have drivers license or insurance so we went to her nearby home. At 10am in the morning her 40 year-old son dressed in cut up bluejeans with nothing else on, sporting a Bud bottle, smashed off his a$$, anounced "who the fvck are these people mah!" After 20 minutes of arguing, he wouldn't let her give me any ID. So off to the police station we went, to clear it up. Was on my way from PSU to New Orleans Jazz Festival, what a way to start a vacation. I was waiting for Ned Beatty to jump out of the woods squealing like a pig.

Edit: no saying anything derogitory about Uniontown. I'm sure its nice rural living, but that experience was odd.

Theres no 522/22 near uniontown... sure u thinking of the right place?

Edit: The uniontown im thinking of is at the intersection of US 119 with US 40 in fayette county. Uniontown is know for having the big 100 foot tall cross at jumonsville, and having ohio pyle(largest white water rapids and falls in PA), and nemacolon golf resort at the top of the mountain.

York here, working in the educational IT field for , ohhh, 8+ years now.

Kids, bah ..... they break so much stuff these days ... but it is great job security !!

I'm a lifetime Yorker, born here 37 years ago and plan on staying. Nothing great about it, but family and roots are important.

that might be it. IIRC 522 parallels 322 and meets 22 out east beyond altoona/state college somewhere.

I grew up in Bensalem! Moved to Toronto, Ontario a few years ago though. Spent the first 10 years of my life in the Parkwood section of NE Philly, then moved to Bensalem for the next 15ish year. Wen to PSU Ogontz in Abington and have worked everywhere from Southampton to Princeton.

I may live in Canada now, but PA is and always will be my home. I never realised how much i liked being there until i moved I guess that's always the way it is.

SagaLore, I go through Williamsport quite often on my way to a favorite get-away, Rock Run, which is north on 14 off route 15.

Amen. Don't hold your breath, though. I bet you work for Widener, on the good side of I-95, right? I mean, besides the welfare office, what else is there left in Chester?

I grew up in Ridley Park, about 15 minutes away. Swam in the winter for the Chester YMCA, way back in the day. Though it was a tough, nasty town then, there was still a little bit of THERE still there. Twenty years later, when I came back to the area, it was all gone, like a bomb had hit.

I vividly remember our HS basketball team bus needed a five car police escort, lights flashing and the occasional siren, just to get into Chester High to play the Clippers my senior year, when we had a good team and they had taken notice.

I can close my eyes and still see the whole bleachers LITERALLY rocking back and forth in rhythmn in that tiny, overcrowded, musty old gym, a floor to near ceiling solid sea of black faces screaming, "Ashes to ashes, Dust to dust, You can beat anybody, But you can't beat us."

They were correct.

Pittsburgh, born and raised.

Me too. Will I ever leave?

Do you want to?

I would like to for a little. This would be a nice place to settle in, but I need to live somewhere else at some point in my life!
I will always have love for Pittsburgh.
I went to school in Oakland my entire life...

Which do you prefer - the country, or the city?

I actually work in the newly resurrected Chester Power Station

Minus the steam turbines, the second picture is the main atrium where I work.
The Wharf/Power Station project is part of a huge plan to turn Chester back around. The entire Rt. 291 corridor is being reworked. It's going to take awhile, and it may never work, but 20 years ago you wouldn't go to Conshohocken after dark, and look where it is today.

There is a long, long way to go, though.

Yep, not Uniontown, my bad. It is Mount Union on the corners of 522/22. It was a twilight zone experience.

I worked down there on the McDade Blvd to Baltimore Pike section of the Blue Rt. I stayed out of Chester. Spent alot of time in Hunt's Lounge, Peps, Lou Turks, and Nazz's.

Why do you choose to live in Scranton? We have an office there - trying to find parking is horrible.
