Betcha never heard of Germansville!
That's where I grew up - love the area. I'm still shocked by how green everything is when I come in from Colorado in the summer - it's like a frikken rain forest

I've heard of it. Isn't there an exit for it while driving by Allentown?

I think there is a sign for it on Rt 309. Maybe one at the 309/100 intersection as well.

Maybe that is where I saw it... I was coming back from a meeting in Philadelphia and decided to take the 309 instead of the Turnpike.

So what is the history of germansville - somebody with the last name of German, or did Germans actually found it?

Sad, but I don't actually know. It's just a tiny place - postoffice, feed store, and a bar - I lived about 5 miles out from the actual town. It's actually not pronounced German as in Germany. The G is pronounced as in gutter or guide.

I moved to Pittsburgh 3 months ago. I really don't like the way the streets are setup. Don't like all the hills either.

I agree on all points.

I'm considering moving to Pittsburgh as a last effort to stay in this state and close to mine and my wife's families.

Google announced today they are opening an office in Pittsburgh, in conjunction with Carnegie-Mellon University.

I've always lived in Pittsburgh, what do you want to know? For another viewpoint you might ask miniMUNCH who moved here a couple years ago.

Sorry, can't help you with Pittsburgh. But I just want to say that PA completely destroys NJ.

Why would you want to live in Pittsburg? The Harrisburg metro tied for 1st place in least stressful in the nation. Unemployment is extremely low. Centralized location means that its easy to go lots of places (with little traffic). Real estate is very reasonable.

I love how no one cares about Harrisburg. Sure it's PA's capital, but no one cares about it. Oh well...
