Wow, we got a concluding remarks mention!!!!

In other news, Holly-Skemolly, we have 4.3M in PG, but SUSA has 87.3M.

Small fish in a big pond indeed!
If my calculations are correct, that's the equivalent of 23 1080Ti's bunkering over 2.75 days, with 100% validation. And we have the equivalent of...1.13. Even accounting for pending credit, it seems like we've put too much into Formula BOINC.

I was looking forward to the PrimeGrid Cross Country as a race were the quorum of 2 wouldn't cause too much of "pending validation" over the course of 5 days.

But sadly, from the Pentathlon shout box:
Michael Goetz said:
I didn't remove the limit; I increased it from 100 to 1000 tasks per GPU. It will stay at 1000 until the end of the Cross Country. This allows people to "bunker" more tasks if they wish. While it may make it take a bit longer to wait for wingmen, that should affect everyone equally.
(It doesn't affect everyone equally though.)

From Jeeper's bulletin on day 9, based on 09:00 UTC stats:

Cross Country: "We are now moving into the deciding phase of the Pentathlon with the start of the Cross Country. This is where important decisions are made and a graphic card weakness could in the end be a deciding factor in the Overall Standings. [...] AF’s position at #6 cannot be taken for granted, let’s see how that develops. OCN are still holding back and are underway at #7 ahead of [H] (#8) and TAAT (#9). Rookie LTT Forums (#10) continue to cause a stir and are therefore not only surprising RKN (#11), MK (#12) and BOINC.Italy (#13)."

Sprint: "The decision is getting closer. Surely, quite a few bunkers will be emptied in the next few hours resulting in position changes of any magnitude. [...] It is momentarily unclear what CNT (#6) are still able to do. A sudden attack from the Czechs will continue to be a danger to them. It’s looking good for TAAT (#7) as USA (#8) and OCN (#9) are trailing and have slackened in their pace."

Marathon: "Our valiant runners are facing many more days here whilst the other individual disciplines take place. There are many more chances to change fortunes with a change of tactics. [...] We’ve got a new #6 in the Top10. OCN managed to overtake TAAT (#7) this morning and reaped just rewards for their patient pursuit race, at least for the time being."

Overall: "CNT have pushed up to #6 past AF (#7). The Francophones were able to hang on to this rank whilst dismissing TAAT onto #8 at the same time. At this moment, TAAT have to share this rank with OCN."

I'm glad that I have only two Rosetta tasks left to upload now, 1h 38m before the finish of the Rosetta Sprint. Because the upload server is practically DDoS'ed now by certain other teams who believe in bunker emptying in the last minute.

Hey, we're starting in bronze medal position in Asteroids! Edit: now silver!

Looking through my log, I also see long periods yesterday during which there was no work available. Then out of the blue, there is work, and then nothing again for several hours.

Is this due to certain team that was accused of using HPC level hardware?

And the NumberFields web site is super slow. Yesterday it seemed OK.

(Edit: Due to this, the Pentathlon site had a zero points update for many teams in the Marathon at 13:00 UTC. But the next update worked and accounted for the missing points.)

Snippets from the 10th daily bulletin, based on 12:00 UTC stats:

Sprint (finished by day 10, 00:00 UTC): "TAAT claimed another 7th place without being challenged. OCN (#8) and RKN (#9) were not quite able to keep to the pace whilst RKN’s end spurt either came too late or was just a little too weak."

Marathon: "TAAT can naturally be found at #7 ahead of Team CNT (#8) who are slowly getting into the rhythm."

Cross Country (now in its second day): "This is where we see the big numbers but don’t be deceived. It’s to be compared to the time when Germany had hyperinflation and 50 million aren’t an awful lot and advantages can melt faster than butter in the sun. [...] AF (#6) continue to maintain their position well but are slowly coming under pressure from OCN (#7) and TAAT (#8). [H] follow at rank 9 and are looking good in the rocky terrain."

City Run (its first day): "The traditional City Run is harbouring a surprise. It’s not SUSA who lead the field. It’s P3D who had the best start. SUSA are currently trying to clear the field from behind and have just gained #2 and thus relegated SG to #3. Further along, there’s already a little gap opening up to CNT (#4), TC (#5), TAAT (#6) and OCN (#7). Whilst AF are not unexpected at #8 [...]"

Overall: "We now have a list, for the first time, with points in all disciplines. [...] TAAT have naturally taken up residence at #7, where else? On the other hand, rank 6 is not too far away. However, #8 is a lot closer and currently taken over by OCN and then AF at #9."

Asteroids' validation ratio is not so good, as noted already here (or elsewhere).

I have 7 pending for every 5 validated.

Yeah, it has always taking awhile to build up a RAC in asteroids. The recent outages have increased my pending tasks

Hopefully when those loads get dropped, we'll all get some beau coupe validations.

For me, worse than that.281 valid 1332 pending validation. I may go back to WCG at this rate.

Don't let the low validation ratio disturb you too much.

(a) It will go up in the last day/ last hours of the contest, when the last minute bunkerers upload their stuff and the project's validator finally gets something to work on.

(b) The remaining pending:valid ratio will be similar across all teams.

Note that a very large part of Asteroids' production is from Gridcoin, i.e. from non-participants. All teams who participate in this contest will have a similar portion of Gridcoin wingmen.

It's still rather unclear how this Asteroids contest is going to turn out. But among the possibilities is that OcUK will be ruling this competition after all.

Preview to Jeeper's bulletin on day 11 (german, based on 11:00 UTC stats):

Marathon: "TAAT (#7) certainly hope that CNT (#8) put their focus onto the City Run, otherwise it could become close for them."

Cross Country: "At #6, AF are now under pressure from [H] (#7), who gained big momentum now. TAAT continue to stay at #8."

City Run: "OCN are losing a lot of terrain, now only #9. TAAT (#6), AF (#7), and [H] (#8) were able to take advantage of this."

Overall: "TAAT is the seventh little kid again, pursued by the francophone rooster (#8) in wolves' clothing."

Conclusion:
"- Is a bunker from MK incoming at the City Run?
- Can [H] reach for bronze in the overall ranking?
- Will TAAT manage to pass the finish as 7th everywhere?"

Edit,
SG's full translation is online now.

I hope your travels are enjoyable petrus!

Dear friends, my birthday is very soon, on the 19th (46 trips around the Sun!!!). All I want for my birthday......is six seven's.

(Seventh overall being the most important seven of the six. )

Or, hey, if someone's been holding out for that last two weeks.......six six's works even better!

From the 12th daily bulletin:

"The 12th day of the Pentathlon is up and running. The computers groan and smoulder. A few make some funny noises. And some of the hardware has given up the ghost. However, our associated crunchers aren’t suffering quite as much but you can tell that the last few days have been taking their toll on them. Some teams look shattered and yet others as if they’ve only just started. It’s not just the fitness that will be the deciding factor in the end but the will to persevere, the will to squeeze maximum performance out of the available hardware. The will to succeed."

Cross Country: "As is customary, TAAT have crunched to #7 and are increasing their distance to AF (#8) by the hour."

City Run: "TAAT have slipped down to #7 but at least still ahead of AF (#8)."

Overall: "TAAT have currently managed to stand at #7 in all assessments, quite a feat."
