It could be changed at any mode.
It's independent from manual/auto scenes.
I personally can't stand the images on vivid mode.

I do not find this to be true. You cannot even select the option to change out of vivid in any Auto mode. Am I missing something? Please advise.

All I can say is...anyone looking for a >5 mp camera should absolutely pass on a "point and shoot" digital camera and buy this one instead for ~$400. This camera simply rocks compared to any point and shoot I've ever seen in action.

I've been playing around with mine and it's awesome how action shots are captured (e.g., kids jumping into the pool look like they're walking on water cause the shot is so clear). My old 2.0 mp digital camera was so slow as capturing photos that many times the subject walked right out of the picture before the shot could be taken.

Sorry for the "laymans" terminolgy...I'm not a camera nut as you can see

If it asks for copies, I would send a copy of each. It can't hurt.

Yes! I rec'd my camera last Thursday and finally had a chance to play around with it over the weekend. The only caveat is that some of the DL's functionality may not be supported by the older lenses meaning you have to do some things manually.

KAF and KAF2 lens (autofocus) are fully supported (except for the power zoom on KAF2).

KA is fully supported (program mode) but you will have to manually focus the lens.

K is supported for aperture priority through the "M" setting. Also, no autofocus is supported on K mount. You make a setting within the custom screen to permit manual aperture settings (one time until you deselect it). When you have composed the picture, you press the AEL button and the camera meters the shot for the aperture setting on the lens and sets the shutter speed automatically. It sounds more complicated that it is.

M42 screw mount lens are supported through a bayonet adapter. The process is the same as K mount except that, for convenience, you will probably focus the lens wide open and when ready to meter, manually stop down the lens and then press the AEL button to set the shutter speed and then shoot.

There are an estimated 24,000,000 lenses made for Pentax cameras, everything ranging from junk to classic primes and they all work. Many of the older lenses can be had for a song on Ebay or pawn shops and are every bit the optical equivalent (or better) than anything manufactured today.

 Very informative post. I've had a Canon 10D for a long time and the only reason I jumped on the Pentax bandwagon is because of Pentax's Limited, and the older M42 screw mount lense. After 2 months of stalking Ebay I finally have all the lenses I need and want. And they're all excellent lenses except for the Pentax Bayonet K 135mm F/2.5 which is only OK.

Pentax 18-55mm Kit lense:thumbsup:
SMC Takumar 28mm F/3.5
Super Takumar 35mm F/3.5
Super Takumar 50mm F/1.4
Pentax 77mm Limited
Super Takumar 105mm F/2.8
Jupiter 37A 135mm F/3.5
Pentax Bayonet K 135mm F/2.5

what m42 to k mount adapter are you using, are you able to focus at infinity correctly. also what mode do you use to meter correctly when using m42 lens

I'm using Pentax original k to M42 adapter and there was no problem focusing at infinity. Adorama was selling the adapter for awhile but it looks like it's on backorder now just like all Pentax prime lense. And I can meter in either AV or MANUAL but AV is more convenient.

is it the adapter that fits on the mount itself rather than the lens?
