I'm looking to get one of these. Does anyone know if they are even available yet? If so where? I don't care how much. Money is no concern (Credit card baby!) Please help!

AFAIK this cpu is only available with pre-built systems from less than a dozen companies (Dell, Gateway and several of the boutique builders such as Alienware and Falcon). Maybe if you talk to one of the smaller builders they might be able to hook you up with the cpu, especuially if you tell them 'money is no concern'.

My deepest sympathy.. Thats one CPU that's most definately not worth the price tag.
Good Luck with that.

Word. 1000 is too much for just a processor.

If it's not worth the price tag, it's not. It doesn't matter if you can or cannot afford it.

exactly ... prices like that only hold back the price reductions ... for other CPU's i think .

Even if it isn't worth it... Is a Ferrari worth it? I mean, realistically, a Ferrari F50 outperforms a Corvette Z06 by perhaps 30% in raw acceleration and handling... But it commands a price 10x that off the Corvette. Is it worth it? To some people, it is.

Bad parody, when was the last time you heard of a Ferrari F50 becomming an average performing car after a few years, that's what happens to all processors. If every other year the newest model Corvette had a 30% lead over the Ferrari and vice versa would people still think the Ferrari should command a 10x price over the Corvette? Besides that cars can increase in value as they become collectables, do you expect the same of a processor, if so I have some processors you may be intrested in

Well, just 10 years ago, my boss thought it was "a good investment" when he shelled out $965 (each) for some 66mhz pentiums for our CAD systems...

Boy I had no idea how passionate you people are for cheap computer hardware. Does it matter that I want the EE. No! What matters is if it's available and can I get one. Not one of you stated whether or not it was on the street. You all had to complain about how expensive it is. Yes it is expensive, and no I'm not rich. I just know what I want. Thanks for nothing.

Steven,

The point is that the AMD 64 FX-51 is both faster AND cheaper. Why not consider that instead?

Just don't want you to get shafted with a processor not worth the price tag. The Pentium 4 EE was really a marketing ploy to make Intel look like it isn't falling too far behind (notice how it was strategically released close to the release date of the Athlon 64?). I certainly hope that'd you'd seriously consider some of the recommendation's other people are offering you.

Because it was worth a thousand dollar investment. Pentium 66 at that time? Wow! It was the begining of the new age. Even 80386 was gigantic improvement compare to AT, a.k.a 80286 . But P4EE now? I don't think it is the beginning of the new age

Some people are too forceful of their opinions. If you disagree and can't understand where he's coming from, at least be quiet! He wants to know where to get one, not to be told 500 times that it's too expensive It's annoying me to read all these posts too ..

it's WU for almost every DC project

anyway, why not get the Athlon 64 FX-51?
it looks a more viable option than the 3.2EE
