Oldfart, I got your jpeg of the wire trick diagram at both my email address. Thank you for sending that.

When I looked at the diagram last night, I saw the potential for inverting and getting the wrong pins jumped. But today when I looked at it, it seems pretty simple. Just choose the holes opposite of the corner of the missing pin - "beveled corner" (same pin holes as the absolute outside pins in the corner missing the pin, but opposite side). Anyway, I think it seems pretty clear now so I'm feeling that I could attempt this.

Now, is the wire strand left in place indefinitely?

Did you get the other email with the mirror image jpeg and answers? Yes, the wire stays in. Its really a simple mod. One little strand of fine wire bent into a U. Drop it in the VID1 and VID2 holes, put your CPU in and your done.

Oldfart, You probably emailed the mirror image to my home email which I usually check after work. I got the first one last night of the CPU pins.

One thing which helped immensely was looking at a diagram of the actual socket as seen on Asusboards.com where there is a page on "the wire trick". It isn't specific to the 1.0A Celeron, but it clearly maps out the pin holes related to the wire trick method and you can clearly see the VID1 and VID1 holes which need to be shorted. That and your mirror image should make it crystal clear which holes need to be shorted with the U shaped strand of wire.

BTW, have you played with the Celeron 1.1A which I see listed for sale now? I know you mentioned the 1.2A wasn't as desirable for OC'ing but now I see the 1.1A out and its only a little more $$.
