Oldfart, I got your jpeg of the wire trick diagram at both my email address. Thank you for sending that.
When I looked at the diagram last night, I saw the potential for inverting and getting the wrong pins jumped. But today when I looked at it, it seems pretty simple. Just choose the holes opposite of the corner of the missing pin - "beveled corner" (same pin holes as the absolute outside pins in the corner missing the pin, but opposite side). Anyway, I think it seems pretty clear now so I'm feeling that I could attempt this.
Now, is the wire strand left in place indefinitely?
