I don't think you'll find a better deal for a weekly magazine that is that thick. :-\

It does sound like a lot but when you realize it's a dollar and some change an issue it's not bad.

i used to work for a telemarketing company that did customer retention for time. people that cancelled their subscription, whether they had it for weeks or years, got offered $0.39 per issue to stay. this was a couple of years ago though, so i dont know if they still offer that.

Bah...Instead of reading People, why not subscribe to Entertainment Weekly? It's a much better (read: much less suck-a**) publication from the same publisher (Time), covering similar turf, and right now you can find 3 year subscriptions to EW for around $15. ($5/year). Search for "subscription" and "entertainment weekly" on eBay.

no need to be so harsh on the new guy. he did state a deal, but just asked if anyone could find a better one. since no one has, it's the best deal yet.

This IS a great deal. People is probably the most expensive popular magazine. My wife had requested it, and I spent so much time trying to find a better than $2.19/issue deal. All in vain.

I ended up getting it for that outrageous (to me) price. I never pay more than $0.50 for other weeklies or $1 for monthlies. I was promissed a better renewal deal once I subscribe - that was a lie. So, $1.62/issue for People is a great deal.

I wasn't trying to be harsh. I didn't flame him. I just snipped the info from the Forum Rules and directed him to the appropriate place to post it.

Personally, I don't see that rate as being a deal at all. Maybe compared to cover price, but if that is the case, ALL magazine subscriptions could be posted because they offer significant savings off the regular retail price if you bought it from from your local retailer and paid cover price per issue.

I really didn't intend to flame the guy. I just wasn't real personable in my reply. Oh...and as far as being a new guy, as of this posting, the person has 14 posts. Yes, that normally indicates a new guy, but he actually registered in January 2000, which is about 3.5 years ago. He obviously isn't an active poster, but he isn't new.

Entertainment Weekly is just celebs, People has that and stuff on real people also. I feel stupid saying this, but People is a more substantial magazine when it comes to editorial content. EW is just small snippits of celeb doings with endless top 100 lists. The wife wanted People, but I got her US mag instead. US used to be a People clone, but it is now 100% celeb gossip. She is still buying People at the newstand, I better get her a sub. IMO they are all trash that I am embarassed to read anywhere, but in the crapper.

Hmm... seems they changed the price. The one with the coupon was previously like 1.62 per issue... bringing it to about $84 a year.
