Over the past 20 years or so, I have seen the younger generation take on an attitude of not having to work, living off the system or living off other people.
I know a couple of people who refuse to work. One guy is married, has 2 kids, and he "might" work 3 or 4 months out of the year. He takes short term jobs that he knows will come to an end and he will get laid off. After getting laid off he will draw his unemployment benefits until they run out, and "then" he will look for a job. On the other hand, his wife works a full time, 40 hour a week job.
If you do not want to take care of your kids, why bother having them?
By not working, sitting your butt at home, what kind of example are you setting for your kids? Will the kids grow up thinking the man is supposed to sit home and the wife work full time? I see nothing wrong with the women working, but raising kids should be a shared responsibility.
The husband goes back to mooching off the system. He works long enough to get unemployment benefits built back up, then gets laid off and draws a check for at least 6 months. Works "maybe" 2 months, gets laid off yet again and draws an unemployment check for another 6 months. And guess what, the kids are on medicaid. So not only is the father of the kids not working, but the kids insurance is provided by the state.
Another change in our society that I have noticed over the years, and that is home ownership. It seems that the younger generation overspends, buys a home they can not afford, or better yet, rent and never buy their own home.
ITT:
Mooching off the system
Laziness and not supporting your family
Overspending
Not having the desire to own a home

Wife is now expecting their third child, husband has worked only about 2 - 3 weeks in the past year.
