Im thinking, since im not getting the mac mini...

An 80gig hard drive
AMD 64 3500
Dual fan powersupply
cd/rw and dvd/rw
GeForce 6800 Rosewill (since i saw a website they had it for 200$)

This is about.... 900 - 1000$????

Is that good for 3d animation, and graphics modeling?

Is it worth the money?

blackinches thinks that's ok. what mobo, case, and ram would you get. you should get the nec nd3520 for your dvdrw, it's cheap and good.

for animation you should get as much ram as possible.

3d animation? and modeling? You need a bit more than that... Try a 200Gb HDD, AMD 4000, 2+GB of RAM, and a real graphics card, like something from Matrox.

cutting it back to 3200+ wont be too much of a difference, besides if you buy oem, you can oc it easily to 2.6 or 2.7ghz (FX levels of performance) just be sure to buy a fan when you buy oem(preferably the stock amd64 fan). rosewill seems like a good company but besides, newegg, no one carreis it. sort of suspect huh? go name brand. theres a 6800bfg oc for 250 and that comes stock overclocked and a lifetime warranty on some site(i'll try to track it down). also, get 1 drive unless you like copying cds on the fly.

if you're really into 3d animation and graphics modeling, id suggest you go quaddro. you'll be amazed how the same core can behave so differently. ex, the 6800ultra does 70fps on doom 3, the quaddro does 15-20 but in 3d modeling etc, it works that much faster than the 6800 ultra also.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer What it means in the case of a CPU is its the chip only, no heatsink included. I am not aware of the possibility of OEM allowing you to overclock more, but im a newb to overclocking.

Ok I could but I need some more information as to the video card you wanted. Standard AGP? you said you wanted to do some graphics modelling and such, and (excuse my ignorance) as far as I know, dont they make special video cards for that sort of thing? Also you are planning to put this thing together your self right? do you need a monitor? OS?

OEM won't OC any better ... its the exact same chip. And if your just going to get the stock cooler for your OEM chip, why not get the retail chip, which comes with the stock cooler included???

You can get a gig of ram for much less than $500 ... i'd recomend getting a gig of value ram for $140, because the expensive stuff will be no faster. Also, for $120, you can get much more than an 80gig HD, you could probably find a 160gig one for that much.
