Performance help

Hi everybody! I was hoping someone could help.

I'm currently running an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 dual core processor 3800+ 2.00 Ghz 2.00 GB RAM with an RV530Xt graphics card plus an RT6x Wireless lan card and it's all connected to a BT home hub. So far so good.

The problem is my connection to the free online game Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. It used to be fine but now it's terrible. I can access the servers sometimes but usually after maybe a minute of normal play the dreaded 'Connection interrupted' comes up and the screen freezes. Then it might come back again or kick me for 'unknown reasons'.

Is it because I have a low siganl to the Home hub?

Also, could it be that my bro who has now started playing the same game on his wireless laptop next door (literally a few metres from my pc) is a factor? Could his signal somehow interfere with mine?

When the three computers (2 pc's, bro's laptop) in the house are 'on', will this cause a drop in performance in my gaming?

Sorry for the long post. Any thoughts/ideas/putdowns would be helpful. Thanks

Make sure there is no other activity on the hub other than the game; both from the gaming computer or any others connected to the hub. Having another computer 'on' won't cause trouble unless it's generating network traffic.

Unless you can get a very clean signal a wired connection would be better for gaming because anything could interfere with the signal. If the problem is interference, all you can do is try to figure out what's causing it and then do your best to prevent it.
