With the new TLDs that came out the last few years I finally grabbed a domain I want with GoDaddy. I then transferred it to Google Domains.

I am not an expert in this area...at all.

Are there any inherent security risks utilizing something like Google Apps for Business over standard Gmail accounts?

Not really no, at least not beyond what I would expect from a regular gmail account to begin with (two-factor, no password sharing).

Just make sure you set up the email stuff correctly where it requires you to add some records to your domain (I don't know if this works differently if you have Google Domains, mine is still through GoDaddy so I had to add a few records).
