It's not really relevant how many people hate her to the music companies.. look at howard stern, he gets a lot of attention because there's so many people against him, and it helps his popularity. If people buy the album, nothing else is relevant to the music companies, unless the artist offends so many people that it may cause people to boycott labels.

Also as someone pointed out no one cares about online petitions because they are easy to run up high numbers by spoofing
