If it's the only one you're doing, why not. If you have 10 others already then who the hell cares.

Unless you subscribe to the "connections are everything" theory, I wouldn't touch any fraternity with a ten foot pole. In my experience, fraternities and sororities are insular elitist organizations at best. At worst the self entitlement and "Daddy's money" or Alumni "gift" pressure to get away with hand slaps for stunts that would put the average person behind bars.

For tech jobs an honors society based on high GPA won't help, you get the benefit from the GPA itself.

Maybe if:
- there are society meeting and you actually attend them
- people hiring also attend those meetings and you can talk to them to make an impression
But just joining the society and not doing anything else won't help since you already have the GPA on your resume.
At least not for software development hiring at my last two companies, for business hiring it might impress someone.

Just my opinion that all Fraternities are sheltered play grounds for snots with too much money. I once had a student body president and member of one of these Honor Societies who compared the difficulties faced by older students finding affordable daycare to the work she put in for keeping two horses while attending school. :|
After attending 3 universities and experiencing the same inability on behalf of Fraternities/Sororities (both Honor based and not) to grasp what the majority thought important while reading with outrage the latest scandal regarding rape/theft/property damage/drugs/underage drinking by fraternal members swept under the rug, I have formed the opinion that these organizations are more successful at labeling their members at lowlife bitches who should be slapped at every opportunity. Screw the Greeks (save the Retsina, Grappa and Ouzo).
