Paging Funboy42...........................

Oh while we are waiting, I own a Samsung slimfit 30" CRT HDTV, and I like it. If the Phillips is anything like it, it is a decent TV. However, don't expect to be able to computer text on it at 1920x1080, even though it will sync at that resolution.

It's a beast to carry. Weighs over 100 lbs. I have a Toshiba that weighs about the same and it is a major effort to move it anywhere.

I got one. YOu get a 90 day warrentee from Phillips. Guess what happened on day 91 (no lie)? Tube starts going out. At first, it was just some minor geometry problems. I got the code for the service menu and realigned everything. Had to do it about once a week, but after a few weeks, problems got worse and required more geometry calabrations. Within 3 months, when I would turn the TV on, only 1/3 the screen would come on. I put my 20in tv on top of it because it was too damn heavy to move. Finally, I pulled my truck up to the door and rolled it in the back for the trip to the dump. Unfortunaly, I should of read all the horror stories before I got mine. Seems like its 50/50 with these Phillips refubs. I wish I never took the chance.

yeah my buddy an I got hurt pretty bad moving the phillips tv over several plights of stairs. We also had several cuts on our hands.

EDIT: When I ordered my TV it wouldn't work so I called phillips and they sent a guy who picked it up, repaired it, and brought it back in a couple of days. It has been working flawlessly since then. Also, the picture quality is not bad at all.

i have a 36 inch tube sony hdtv, this thing is probably a joke to move in comparison. i think mine is 250 pounds. be a man, it's more satisfying once you get a heavy ass tv in place compared to your wimpy man flat screens.

Don't do it! I bought one the last time this was posted and mine showed up in pretty piss poor shape. The component input only displayed black and white, the case was severely cracked, the remote was in several pieces, and red colors were washed out.

dot pitch is probably too coarse to be really called a hdtv. more like edtv for actual resolution it can deliver.

This model has been at this price for about three years now. Needless to say, it was a more reasonable price back then.

Philips needs to lower this to ~$200 if they expect to move these.

I got a 32" SDTV refurbed Philips, and it has never worked through the component inputs. The shipping company took away the box, so shipping back 175 lbs. of glass and plastic was never much of an option. I'll bet that 50% of these "refurbished" sets arrive with some problem, just based on various forum feedbacks.

at this price range its all about the same..."edtv" level low end resolution crt. theres no incentive to develop it with lcd prices dropping so quickly. the only ones left have to deal with the low end market, raising quality and price would mean bringing it up to flat panel prices.

i'd be wary buying refurbs from them, especially if you live in an area where there isn't a local tv repair shop that does philips tv repairs. their support is awful - don't do what they say they will do, they take their time.

The Samsung slimfit line is a good CRT. It seems to have fewer problems than this set, but there are geometry problems with CRT widescreens. Also, not a lot of effort has been put into these to make them perfect sets, even though CRTs could obviously make absolutely excellent HDTVs. Even though a high quality CRT will destroy the average LCD set, the general public still believes that the CRT is old technology and should be cheaper than the newer flat TVs.
