edit- that was before I clicked the link and realized it was Zeitgeist. Yeah, that's movie is meant to do that. It's meh imo, tries to be smarter than it is and to much conspiracy theory thrown around.

Aaah good to know...

I'm gonna check out this podcast later to see what the maker of the movie is all about..

This still remains the single best statement of Liberty I have encountered:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Yea that's the problem. This is obviously something our generation (<30) has to figure out, how to fix the current broken system of today? It's hard to fix a corrupt system by means of that corrupt system...

I think one problem is that it's really difficult for older people to recognize that we are so massively different from where they were at the same age(the mental development of the 20 year old today vs the 20 year of old of 1980). We are so much more aware, yet they still think they can treat us as if we're morons, continuing to hide, lie, cover up,manipulate. That may have worked before, where the only information outlets were tv news and newspapers(christ...), but that shit aint flying anymore.

The internet and technology has made such an impact on our consciousness, that I think we are completely different people, with different priorities and values. But as long as they keep a stranglehold on this system, we're going to keep going in this retro direction of running things.

I completely disagree. You are the same stupid and ignorant 20 year old's as I was when I was that age 20 years ago. Our methods of attaining information might have been different, but they were still effective. We were outraged, we sung songs about how we were not going to take it, how we would be different, how we would change the system into our New World Order.

The problem is that almost no one cares. A few might gather and try to make changes. But The-Powers-That-Be can freely ignore them, because they have almost no influence. If they manage to cause enough of a disturbance then the powers can safely use violence to silence them since it is illegal to protest too vehemently. Because no one will care enough to do anything about it. Just see how much good the Occupy Wall street movement did, and that is by far the largest protest America has seen since the Vietnam war.

To compare any older methods of communicating information with the internet, to me, is massively underrating what a remarkable outlet the internet has become. A 13 year old armed with a cell phone is capable of more information than any man pre internet.

I think to say the powers that be can squelch a disturbance today the way the could 30 years ago is naive. Information can be passed in an instant, congregating groups can be done instantly.
Problems at a certain location? Send a tweet instantly to potentially millions of people to change route.

The Occupy Movement, I think, is just the beginning and look at how much bs was exposed in regards to police actions.

I'm assuming you're talking about the late 60's when you talk about songs and a new world order. Well that took a massive shift of consciousness in the form a psychedelics, but this time the internet can't be made illegal with a signature. If any censorship occurs in the form of SOPA or whatever, the outrage will be incredible. The internet is a runway train that can't be stopped, the missing link the people of the 1960's needed.

No, I'm talking about the 80-90's. We did the same thing. We protested, we sang songs, we had sit-ins and rallies. We held hands across America, and tried to tell people we were the world, one people. There was famous musicians that did large concerts to feed the hungry. There was a war we didn't want, Presidents we couldn't trust (read my lips!) and evil corporations polluting our world. None of this was new then, and we lost worst then they did in the 60's.
