Sold the a7 last week and placed an order for the a6500 with a bunch of free junk. I just got it yesterday and after changing settings and setting it to how I want it, it was dark so I didn't get to shooting it. It was my first time handling it and was surprise at how solid and hefty this little thing is. While the a7 wasn't that much bigger the size difference is definitely felt when you hold it to shoot. The a7 felt better so it will take some getting use to with this one.
Some AF testing indoors under chandelier lights seems to be good, probably on par with the a7 in this lighting but should smoke it in better lighting and tracking. Tested the continuous eye-af and it's nothing short of amazing. It should help nail perfect focus on those shallow DOF portrait shots. The a7 had it but it was only single and not continuous and never did work that great. I've always thought touch to focus on the screen was just a gimmick but after testing it I think it's going to be one of those "must have" features in a camera going forward for me. It will be especially useful for video but touch to drag focus points will be good for shooting stills too.
Again I've only had very limited time with it but if you have any questions I'll see if I can answer it. I will definitely try to get some more time with it today.
