Picky motherboard or something else?

Here is the motherboard:
MSI

Here is the ram:
PQI

The system has been showing 1/2 of the actual ram.

I recently bought both of these things at newegg.com and i would rather not return the motherboard unless i absolutly have to.

I went to MSI's website and it does not list PQI as a supported brand but i do have ram that should technically be compatable otherwise.

Someone please tell me that its just my ram and not my motherboard. Another note for those who might have this motherboard.... if i put a sick in slots 1 and 3 the screen won't display anything.

So my options at this point are to
: return the ram for more of the same
: return the ram for a refund to buy new ram
: return the motheboard

In which channels do you have the DIMMs installed? Looking at your mobo's manual (page 21), the safest combo is to go with one in DIMM2 and the other in DIMM4.

Could be a bad ram slot. I had 2 fail on an old sis dual channel board.

hrm, i will have to try that. I really hard a hard time with the diagram in the manual. I am obviously a newbie computer builder (at least i know where to go for the right info anyway. I will try 2 and 4. thanks

ok, well i have another problem. I put the ram in slots 1-3 and 2-4 and whenever i do that i lose video. I have tried reseating my video card (taking it out and putting it back in but that doesn't seem to do anything) any suggestions?
