The Cougar was sold to a person out of West Palm Beach for the asking price. I love that car, great car - as fast as my new cop car. But summer was coming; I needed AC and something more reliable and fuel-efficient. The Cougar got 13 mpg and the Vic gets 20 mpg with the AC running.

In a previous thread he said there was a plastic cover for the back seats and the seat material under it was in perfect condition

That gas tank thing is BS. Most of the accidents the police vehicles had that resulted in a fire were over 70mph(any car that is hit standing still at 70mph is gonna take a hell of a beating) and was usually caused by improperly mounted police equipment which left screws and mounting hardware protruding from the trunk and aiming at the gas tank. Granted there have been cases there it has been the fault of the design of the car, but no car is perfect. I'll still feel much safter driving my crown vic than anything else.

It handles EXTREMELY well, you guys are going to say I am nuts but it handles like my friends Vette! I feel like I could drive around a telephone pole at 60 mph. About the exploding thing... any car hit at 80 mph or greater in the rear has a 85% chance of blowing up just like a crown vic.

I have taken 90-degree right turns at 40 mph. Traction control and posi rear end is crazy stable, and the speed sensitive power assists monitors your breaking and acceleration - so it knows that when you break hard to assists allot. It?s really awesome.

I have a 94 mercury Grand Mar. it has 142k on it, loaded leather, abs , traction control. but no handling package or dual exhuast
so far it's been a good car, easy on gas on the highway.

I wish I had the bucks to buy:mercury
