For the above picture, here is a snapshot of my workspace:

Note the Windows Explorer window on the right:

Each "Chicago Morning Pano000X.tif" is a part of the final file, 9 files at 870MB each that Enblend had to blend together.

The "Chicago Morning Pano.tif" was the original composite file that I worked on. Working on a 870MB file is SLOWWWWW.

The final file is the 355MB TIFF, and the image I uploaded as the "Large Size" image is the 2.5MB version.

The original, uncompressed TIF file is a whopping 20738x2187, or 45.35 megapixels.
The night shot is a little smaller at 13504x2276, or 30.74 megapixels.

The fact that i have been in the exact places you were standing adds some nostalgic value to the pics for me. Thanks a lot for posting these!

Yeah, none of my landscapes fit well on desktops. Feel free to crop it though!

Let em ask what I am sure is a dumb question:
How did you take that picture?
How many degrees around is it?
Did you set some feature - then take multiple shots, and then stich them together on a pc?

Nah, it's not a dumb question. There are a lot of technical things about panorama shooting and especially stitching that a lot of people don't know.

1. Set up camera on tripod.
2. Meter for an average area of your photo.
ex. For the morning shot, the right is the brightest and the left is the darkest, so I metered for the middle, making sure I could keep details in the brighter and darker parts of the image.
3. Shoot each part of the panorama with the same exposure values as the average, making sure there's decent overlap between them.
ex. The average metered value requires ISO100, f/8, and 1/200 shutter speed. Shoot each of your pictures at this setting to minimize brightness and color differences between the pictures when you go to stitch them together.
4. Once all the pics are shot, download to computer, do the same RAW editing for each picture so as to retain the same color and brightness values, save as TIFF, and stitch together using software. I personally use Hugin, PTAssembler, and Enblend.
5. Post process in Photoshop.

I don't remember how many degrees it is, and I didn't record it anywhere . I'm guessing the night shot was around 110 degrees and the morning shot was around 150 degrees.

My Dad works in the building right smack in the middle of the morning pic (Blue Cross Blue Shield building, next to the tall white building). Could you do a Millennium Park pic?

I wish I could, but unfortunately the picture was a travel shot for me. I live pretty far from Chicago
