My favorite.

Best places in Buffalo, NY IMHO:

Mr. Pizza @Elmwood & Bird
LaNova on West Ferry

I like NY style pizza. Though I have yet to find really good NY style pizza in NYC and I live here. I haven't made the effort to go to the 2 old/famous places in NYC yet. I've had good 'NY style pizzas' in a couple of places in Boston (one of them is Italian owned/run).

I had really nice Chicago style pizza years ago when I visited Chicago.

NY-style is the only thing that I'd actually call pizza.

Chicago style is good, but like someone said earlier, it's more like a casserole.

There's a place near Pittsburgh called Jioio's that has a unique "pizza". The crust is thin and flaky almost resembling a pie crust, but soft and chewy. It's really good, but I'm not sure I'd call it pizza either. Definitely my favorite non-pizza pizza.

If you can't find good pizza in NYC, you aren't looking. Alot of shops really are mediocre, but there are a ton of good pizza joints in the city.

There was a place down the street from where my wife used to live in Brooklyn Heights that was fantastic. I was a daily customer when I'd visit.

Ray's Pizza on 7th Avenue and 49th Street is my favorite pizza place in NYC. I'm there 3 or 4 times a week during lunch break.

You're right, I'm not actively looking. I work in Manhattan and usually only go for pizza when I'm bored with my other lunch options.

If anybody has good suggestions for pizza shops between Times SQ and Union SQ, I'd be interested.

NY style all they way.

If I need to eat it with a fork and knife then it's not pizza IMO.

and unless the oven is a nuclear furnace, to get an even cook and not burn it is going to take longer than 3 minutes as well

proper neapolitan pizza takes about 90 seconds in the oven.

anyway, chicago thin > chicago thick (which is pizza casserole anyway)

Chicago has an assload of good pizza (and I'm not talking about deep dish).

There are a couple places that do fantastic neapolitan that I like and few that have some really good conventional thin crust and pan pizza. It really comes down to what I'm in the mood for.

Detroit Square style pizza, somewhat thick crust, lots of sauce, pepperoni, fresh made chorizo and fresh mushrooms.

Simply the best.

Growing up in MI I didn't realize this was a detroit only thing. Man, now I have a craving for some.

Chicago style deep dish is my favorite. Maybe, because I only have it once a year, I'm not sure if I'd want it on a regular basis.
