Well at least you gave them a computer so they'll have something to do while they're down there!

Did the chipset fan let you get any further than 167/420?

I really have not tried any further since I put it on. The asII did not seem to do anything. It is still getting very warm in Prime (board temps reads up to 55c.) I may try and reseat the chipset hs again. I have not taken off that little white padding around the bottom of the hs. I may do that and see if I get any better contact. I will try and get it a little higher tonight as well, though I am quite happy at 167 fsb!

I'll probably freak if I'm able to get up to 167/420! Yeah, you should definitely remove the thermal pad from the bottom of the HSF for the chipset. The ASII will do a much better job that way and you should see a drop in temps after the ASII settles in. 55c does seem on the high side, but it's probably not reading correctly. Thanks for the informative posts, PJ!

I did remove the pink thermal pad. There is a little white pad around the edges of the heatsink that I am thinking about removing.

Open mouth, insert foot. I should have known that you weren't such a noob as to do that! Mobo temps do seem really high so it's got to be a reporting error. Doh! FedEx just came and they didn't have my BE7. Guess I'll get it on Friday morning and have the rest of the break to play with it. I'll try to put together a results post similar to your's, but not as detailed as Thugs!

I am now able to get the same on both boards now. Both boards are great. I prefer the Abit though. But I rma'd mine due to the problem I was having with the USB at the high fsb. No USB problems at all on the p4pe at all.

Does the BE7 overclock better than the IT7Max2 V2?
trying to compare whihc board to get
so far my choice is P4PE but i heard that Abit is better at overclocking?

I read through both PJ's and Thugrook's thread and you two get lower temps. than I do. What kind of cooling do you guys use? I get 49/40 (CPU/Board) with one 55CFM 120mm fan blowing in and another (same fan) blowing air out. I am using the stock heatsink. A guy at Arstechnica gets very similar temps. to mine, so I assume my cooling is sufficient, so I'm just curious I guess.
