Could someone explain where the term "folding" came from? I just see guided electrons performing simple tasks.

"Folding" probably came from the observation that proteins assume certain configurations before they can be active.
How "folding" happens is not quite clear, but the attraction between different atoms/molecules plays a big role.
Misfolding (due to e.g. a mutation) may result in a protein which does not do the task it is designed for and thus causes a disease.
Here is some more info ...

Am I missing something in the above post? Misunderstanding a joke?

Someone posted a real question in here. Like, real work stuff. It threw me off for a bit.

I want a job that doesn't involve me being relieved by anyway. I hate it. It's impossible for people to show up to work on time it seems. I have yet to be late the four months I've been working here, and this is my relief's third time this week. Ugh....

It's so simple I don't see where you are lost at. It's like comparing a Honda generator and a back scratcher made in China.

I'll take the generator,it can power more computers, and being so l33t, the women will flock to scratch my back

Do I win?

Same here. I think it's cool they did the PS3 client, as they go a monopoly there and will get a lot of extra results, but negelcting the BOINC client so long is really bad. I'd do a lot of F@H if there was a BOINC app.
