I had a long day so you all take care while I tuck these old bones into bed.
I spent the day getting repairs on the wifes car and visiting with my sons teachers and the the special education testers, My son qualifies for Special Education, he is falling short in a number of areas (1st grade) and he qualifies for:
Speech therapy
A one on one math teacher
A one on one reading teacher
A one on one social skills teacher
I felt so bad signing the papers, he has a high iq, gets 2-3+ on his report cards etc
But he learned to talk late and is behind the other students.
He learned sign language at barely a year old (I was worried he was deaf because he rarely made sounds) But he started talking and is very intelligent for his age.
he has problems with math like
"when asked to combine blue cubes and red cubes to make a total of 12 cubes he can use 5 blues and 7 reds , but then cannot find another combination that will work." from the 10+ pages of results.
It sounds good that they are wanting to help, but at the same time I feel like i somehow betrayed him and his rights today
He has a great memory he likes to line up his toys according to the date he recieved them and likes things very organized. he is a trooper and dresses himself gets his cereal in the mornings and loves making friends.
I just hope I made the right decision.
