Please help me fix SMC7004AWBR

Hi,

I came back to school this weekend to find no net connection. No big deal, just log into the web admin of my SMC wireless router and reboot it. What is this? host not found? Hmm hard reset by pushing button in back of the unit for 5 seconds. Try to connect again, nothing. Can anyone please help me? I have since tried manually resetting over 2 dozen times. It's like the router just died. BTW, it is brand new (2 weeks).

P.S. I tried calling tech support. They put me on hold for > 30 mins so I hung up.

What ISP you using? Cable, DSL? Try to power off your modem for 2 minutes then plug it in again. Should renegotiate link with ISP.

I'm assuming you're getting the correct lights lit, etc.? Try powering down for at least 2 minutes (more is better for some reason with these) and re-plug. If nothing then, and no lights, it sounds like it's fried.

It has nothing to do with the routing part. The fact is I cannot even connect or ping the router. That is bad. I have powered for 24 hours and reset numerous times.

The other day I called up SMC and while I was on the phone with them it worked, as if nothing had happened. Then I hooked it up to my cable modem and 15 mins later it dies 100% again. How could this be?!

all i can say is SMC sucks ~! Im still using it now, but i have the simliar problem like you
at first i have no connection at all, but somehow i fixed it, but the connect become slow every 30min or so, everything just become very slow ... it never happened on my Linksys router.... dude.. SMC ... thoguht it was a good unit
