the only problem with this is, i just reloaded windows for the fourth time in the past 3 days BECAUSE of this! it KEEPS happening - i loaded windows98 twice and the first time it happened is when i was downloading the IE5.5 service pack - the second time happened at another time (dont remember what i was doing) and the 3rd i installed windows98SE i had just got done loading my sound drivers - what is gde.exe? this is getting OLD at an alarming rate! this was my first reformat which came about because of the "funlove" virus -
i was not real comfortable with the idea to begin with, and now this!
please, no ads for other OS's i am sticking with 98SE
i also have a PCI card listed in devices but have no idea what it is and windows cannot locate drivers for it - the only cards i have installed are the voodoo4, an intel ethernet adapter, and a dialup card - the 2 network cards are listed and "working properly" the display adapters lists the voodoo and it is working properly - could it be that it has onboard video and it is seeing that as the other PCI card? but when i first installed the voodoo card i had nothing else, as far as other PCI cards listed - there is also a "other device" listed, but windows cannot find drivers for that either - i have bnothing plugged in other than the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and the network cards + the voodoo - please please please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What brand are those network cards? Since you said you had two, i suppose that you should have different brands for each, and when i mean by different brands I mean by chipset. What chipset do you have again? 810 or 815? if 810, i'm thiking you're pretty much screwed with the video card upgrade chances, i mean if you can get it working(like my friend did) more power to you, but i kept reading about horror stories with switching video cards and the 810.

btw, i did a google search on gde.exe, and it appears to be a virus of some sort, a trojan
