Hi everyone:

a system alert pop up:

the instruction at "oxe03c3a68" referenced memory at "0xe03c3a68". the memory could not be "read"

click on OK to terminate the program
click on CANCEL to debug the program

and now i cannot:

1) drag icons on my desktop
2) open up "search"
3) open up some links


anyone knows what causes the problem? bad memory

and yeah i got the worm yesterday but it was terminated and removed so it shouldn't be the problem

It's not your memory, it's a virus. Look at sticky post #2.

it got struck with that worm yesterday but i have removed it completely and now it doesn't show up at my taskmanager anymore.

however im having a difficult time installing updates. i click "install now" tab on the windows update and it won't even work! nothing is loading/downloading!

Well you are describing the exact MO of the virus. RPC/svchost.exe has been hosed. Cut, paste and many other apps (window's update maybe?) no longer function.
Get the update directly from microsoft.com - save it locally and run it. Run the cleaner again and reboot.

ok it appears only happen when i connect to the internet.... plus i ran memtest 2 rounds and it seems no errors

after running the symantec "fixblast" it says the worm is not present

maybe patching up would stop all this?

Have you overclocked his ram way out of spec like ddr2100 to ddr3500?

ok ran the fix and patched and it seems to be gone.... hopefully

and heh its a P3 1Ghz with PC133 sdram

so thanks everyone hope its not a hardware problem
