PNY 64GB SSD?

I noticed they showed up on Newegg within the past few days:

Based on the case design and read/write specs, it looks like a Samsung controller drive (compare with the Corsair S128) Can anyone confirm?

If so, it seems like another good low cost non-JMicron SSD option, to go along with the Vertex. Not as high read/writes as the Vertex, but cheaper, and no firmware issues. It would be great for laptops. I wonder how it compares against the older Samsung 64GB SLC drive?

It does look like a Samsung, but for a similar price you can get an SLC drive. (PNY is MLC)

Flash memory is made up of individual cells. SLC drives store 1 bit of data per cell, while MLC drives store 2 bits of data per cell. I'll let Anand explain the next part:

Erasing performance is the same between the two, read performance takes twice as long on MLC flash and write performance can take almost four times as long. If you've ever heard people complain about MLC write speed before, this partly why. Do keep in mind though, the numbers we're talking about here are ridiculously low - even 900 µs to write to MLC flash is much faster than writing to a mechanical hard disk.

The biggest advantage of SLC ends up not being performance, but lifespan.

SLC drives are typically used in servers because of the increased lifespan. MLC drives are more mainstream in the consumer market, due to their cheaper cost per GB.

What is lifespan? Are the reading times the same (Eg: A SSD for the OS, to boot quickly, which would be better?)
