the robbing has already started, people setting out lures and stealing robbing people
Team Rocket?

I always thought Pokemon was a childish thing in the late 90s. Now to see people in their 20s and 30s playing this just makes the whole thing even more ridiculous.
Pokemon? Didn't that already happen back in like 1996?
Another case where an old idea is brought back because no one thinks of new shit these days. I can't say I blame them. Why think when you don't have to?
Those children grew up, and now have fancy phones and apparently nothing better to do.
Anyway, I downloaded it and tried it out. Some of the reports about accidents don't make sense, as the area of effect means you don't have to get THAT close to something to try and catch it... And you certainly don't need to stop in a very specific point from what I see. I'm not in an urban area though so that might be part of it.
Anyway, these developers have already made a game like this years ago called Ingress. Apparently slapping a Pokémon skin on it made people lose their shit.
I tried it out. It was interesting.
The forced walking around aspect is interesting.
I don't like how you can't battle without going to an actual world location (gym).
If you don't have a nearby gym, it basically becomes a pokemon collection and nothing else.
I can definitely see this resulting in numerous deaths, both from users getting hit and from users driving around on their phones (slowly) hitting pedestrians.
Pokemon never went anywhere.
It's been a wildly successful franchise.
Didn't Mario happen forever ago? Man, they can't come up with new shit these days! lol
I'm a grown-ass man and feel like I need to start playing P-Go just because it's a "thing" now.
the age cutoff for it is pretty funny. im 34 and I have never played a single second of any Pokémon game, ever. I had to look it up, the first one came to the US when I was a junior in HS. I hadn't had a Gameboy since I was like 10.
I have friends who are a cpl years younger then I am and apparently this game is the second coming
That city's police department made a statement on Sunday morning confirming that a group of four armed men had used the app to lure victims to a specific place, at which point they mugged the unknowing Pokémon Go players.
I'm 42 and have it installed. Caught my first 3 in my recliner yesterday while watching TV. Went outside with daughter and we caught a couple in the yard.
It's her birthday tomorrow and we plan on heading around town to see what we can capture. Game is pretty cute and fun. Simple concept but smart concept.
Nintendo's stock jumped something like $7B already based on it.
Just don't throw your phone thinking it is a pokemon ball ok?
Oh I know, I'm just bitching on a Monday morning. Don't mind me.
You could also argue movies in this way. Another Ghostbusters? Another Ninja Turtles? Why? They will -never- be better than the original, yet somehow they make millions. I guess I just answered my own question.
Pokemon was awesome as a kid. I was all in with the GameBoy, trading card game (seriously a freaking awesome game), and TV show when it was on.
Then I grew out of it.
But I am always on a precarious ledge, looking to buy the latest GameBoy just so I can buy another Pokemon game. The game, while dressed in kid colors, is actually quite popular with folks in their mid-to-late 20s. Basically, the generation that grew up with the original games. It's a satisfying game, for sure.
And yes, I hopped on the Pokemon Go bandwagon, but, I only have one foot in, the other is dragging behind. I haven't actually went anywhere to go hunting, I just use it while on the go seeing what I can find without deviating from the course, or leaving my seat at a restaurant/bar.
You remind me of a good friend of mine, your avatar's hat tops it off.
Do you happen to be a furry like him as well? Is your name Joe?
