We've gone through this several times before in Ohio. Police rolling up on black people based on a phone call and quickly killing them without a reasonable chance for the person to respond. Open carry states seem to give very little leeway to black people.

Now we come to 15 year old Tavion Koonce-Williams
Watch the bodycam. I would estimate 2-3 seconds elapsed from the order to drop the gun before he was shot. He was carrying a toy. Police were called with the claim he was pointing the gun sideways at houses. Police don't know if he was really pointing at houses. Cop: "Where are you coming from? Can I see your hands real quick?". That took 2 seconds and then Tavion was shot. Once again right wingers in Ohio decided open carry was a good thing so why does that not apply to black people?

John Crawford was buying an air rifle in a sporting goods store. Police got a call black man waving a gun at people in department store. Police come behind John but he was on the phone and did not hear original police orders to drop gun. He was killed. A review of store camera footage revealed John WAS NOT waving his gun at people.

They showed the video multiple times on TV news last night on CBS. It appeared that the victim was pointing the toy gun straight up at the sky. Not toward the officer's body cam. Evidently the cop shot the victim's hand. The victim commenced to howl in pain. It was very chilling. TBH, I think that cop should at the very least lose his job and never again have a job in which he carries a gun.

Worst part about it is that, cops NEVER try to shoot a gun out of someone's hand. To do so goes against their training -- they are taught if they shoot at someone then they shoot to head or center of mass. To do otherwise is wild west crap at best.

I'm glad the kid survived; however, to me, the fact that the cop shot the kid in the hand is clear evidence either he (the cop) knew something was screwy there or that he was a complete moron.

Think open carry is bad? In my state, we have unlicensed concealed carry.

The neighborhood was safe until the cops showed up. This seems like a common theme nowadays. Maybe they should focus on that fact and try something different.

Yeah, that always seems to happen when the cops are allowed to police themselves with no meaningful oversight. Stuff like that continually gets whitewashed until they can't hide it anymore.

Then, when they fire the moron due to the bad PR, they probably will go out of their way not to strip him of his law enforcement license. He'll then just get hired as a cop somewhere else (probably with an under the table recommendation from the people that publicly fired him).

Anyone that drives anywhere in this day and age without a dashcam is a fool.
