It takes somewhere almost exactly 4 seconds for me to load the page using the mississippi counting method. I know it's not scientific, but the margin of error should be low enough for such a small span of time.

I live in Maryland (Middle east coast). I have Comcast cable. The top of the page loads in about 1 second, then the lower portion of the page takes about an additional 3 seconds to load.

I'm seeing about 6 seconds here in Salem, Oregon on Comcast. I'm using Safari however(I'm on a Mac, so shoot me), so that might throw off your results.

Jason, it takes about 45 seconds to load via 49.2k dialup from Washington State.

Sometimes I experience the "mystery hang" on the front page too, where the system just sits there and thinks, and I have a hypothesis that this might be the result of using Spybot Search & Destroy. I loaded its Hosts file, which remaps "bad" servers to 127.0.0.1. For example, if I go to Webshots Community looking for a photo, I get repeated error messages to the effect that "127.0.0.1 isn't replying to that" and lots of non-displayed advertising banners, evidently because these are among the "bad" servers that track users or attempt to feed the system a spyware-installer popup.

So you might look for a pattern there. Of those who are experiencing the "mystery hang" on the front page at times, how many have Spybot S&D installed?

About 18 seconds.
On a 512/256 Tiscali ADSL line.
NW, Crewe, UK.

Might i suggest a cut down of Quicktime applets on AT. Cos Opera browsers sometimes have problems with them, and i hate having to change to IE just to view certain parts of AT (such as benchmark graphs).

Thanks.

So much for that hypothesis, then.

I'm using IE6SP1 with all subsequent critical patches, and Sun Java 2, FWIW.

cut load times in nearly in half for me...9 seconds to 4-5.

*edit*

Insight 3000\128 from the midwest using Opera.

Will check with IE in a sec.

IE ...

Try 1: 45 seconds on a fresh cache...
Try 2: 14 seconds on a fresh cache...
Try 3: 34 esconds on a fresh cache.

Header loaded instantly, then it took longer to actually load the rest

Thats what happens on mine.
The headers loaded first, then a pause for the main page, then wait for the pictures to load.

Exactly what I see. Its not everytime, maybe 50% of the time

It can be anywhere from 10 seconds, to over 1 minute. I just did it 30 seconds ago and it took me 1 minute 22 seconds to load from Silicon Valley CA. As usual my IE reported it was "not responding" then it suddenly let up.

Clearly there is an issue here. Its been this wasy for weeks.

It's been locking up temporarily for 5-10 seconds when I go to the main page for a week or so now.
