1mb cable, London UK.

The header loaded almost instantly, but the main body took 6-7 seconds to load.

The front page used to load all at the same time within 1-2 seconds

Sometimes the main body takes 10-15 seconds to load, which is very annoying.

Voted 1-4sec.... then counted and realized it was more like 8s. Shrug.

East coast, Southwestern CT. Using OptOnline (capable of 5mbit DL).

Header loads quickly, then IE waits for all the table data before rendering the rest of the page....

East Coast... Michigan... Detroit area to be more precise. Using Comcast cable, 3000/256. It usually takes between 5 and 10 seconds... sometimes quicker... but never less than about 3.

I always thought that was weird since there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of heavy content that would require a large amount of stuff to be downloaded. While you're at it, maybe get rid of those "sidebar ads?"

Regardless of clearing my cache or not, it loads in a few seconds (pretty typical loading time for a big table-based page here). Using firebird on linux on 1.5mbit cable.

Well, if I clear my cache, it consistantly freezes on "loading http://images.anandtech.com/zipzoom/2.html" for 20 seconds or more.

Does anyone else notice that there's flash in that ad? I think that flash could be the problem, or at least part of it. I don't have flash installed and everything loads pretty much instantaneously for me. I used netcat to see if the server stalls in any specific spot on the main page and it doesn't. I grepped the output for lines which contain http and don't contain anandtech.com, and I couldn't find any images or iframes or anything else that links offsite that could cause a stall (though I easily could have missed some).

Maybe the people getting stalls should uninstall or disable flash and see if that makes any difference?

here's this, too:

time printf "GET / HTTP/1.0\n\n" | nc anandtech.com 80 > /dev/null

real 0m0.644s
user 0m0.000s
sys 0m0.009s

I tried a bunch of times and that was about the norm, with the fastest being ~590ms and the slowest being ~1.1 seconds.

to shed some light on things its actually a system hang, not just lag, when we are loading the zzf ad. As in IE stops responding completely for a few seconds. If you click the close button during the hang you get the "this program is not responding, end now" dialogue (windows 2000 pro).

You need to update your sig to say January 2004!
Are you seriously still waiting? Only took 2 weeks for Tiscali to install my ADSL. And that was with a few problems as well.

12 Seconds now. And considering this time`ll be busyier than before(more US/Can`s online), thats pretty good. 4 second improvement.

Yeah still waiting. The problem is not completely BT's fault as the area which I live has not hit the golden "Trigger Level" of 300yet . However, The reason I leave it in my sig is that "trigger Levels" didn't exist when I first ordered it. It was something they introduced after they realised their advertising campagne was full of holes.... :frown:

Ah well.
You do know that it`ll cost a fortune going from ISDN to ADSL? As they aint stricly compatible, due to how the line works?

Its gone back up now.
Was 12seconds at 1:00 in the morning. Now, and 4:10pm, its 20 seconds.
