There is a fairly modest fee for converting the line from ISDN back to normal, and if the line is then tested and found to be too poor to accept ADSL that gets refunded I believe....so no it wont cost a fortune to convert.

You need to update your sig to say January 2004!
Are you seriously still waiting? Only took 2 weeks for Tiscali to install my ADSL. And that was with a few problems as well.

12 Seconds now. And considering this time`ll be busyier than before(more US/Can`s online), thats pretty good. 4 second improvement.

Yeah still waiting. The problem is not completely BT's fault as the area which I live has not hit the golden "Trigger Level" of 300yet . However, The reason I leave it in my sig is that "trigger Levels" didn't exist when I first ordered it. It was something they introduced after they realised their advertising campagne was full of holes.... :frown:
Ah well.
You do know that it`ll cost a fortune going from ISDN to ADSL? As they aint stricly compatible, due to how the line works?

Its gone back up now.
Was 12seconds at 1:00 in the morning. Now, and 4:10pm, its 20 seconds.

BBB ? Your going to get the 100Mbit even though its supposed to have those insane monthly bandwidth caps on it ? I beleive at the time i read it i remember thinking I can even pull more BW usage per month on my 1Mbit than would be allowed on the 100Mbit..assuming the caps were correct.

Just where do you work.... or is that your HOME line?

who is now getting fast load times

Yep, that's at home

Anyways, the site is a little faster now, not quite blazing, but it doesn't seem to stall in any particular place, it just loads from craploads of other sites.

Yup thats what i thought..can get within a whisker of that with 1Mbit...personally id probably stick with the 10Mbit because your gonna be server side limited quite a lot anyway, so think id rather have the ~3TB capability of the uncapped 10Mbit than the speed of the 100Mbit

with cache emptied, 20 seconds for it to complete loading (at least half being ads).
About 5 seconds for the second try (i.e. images etc cached).

14 seconds. Lincoln Nebraska (midwest) on university line. It has always been one of the slowest loading pages I've ever seen; maybe 8-10 seconds was typical. Now it is worse.

About 7 sec at home (with possible items in temp files). Netherlands, Cable 1024 kBit/s. IE 6. With empty cache about the same time.
Ages (+- 1,5 minutes) at work. Connection unkown. IE 5.5. One of the slowest and therefore most irritating sites that I frequent from work.

East Coast, South Carolina, 56k, around 20 seconds sometimes a lill longer. I don't get any kind of hang either. I'm useing Mandrake 9.2 and Mozilla 1.4. The main code of the site loads fastly. What's slow for me is the main body where you have the articals and thoes images. Most of the other site-images, ads, ect ... loads in decent time.

NOTE: Not all ads loads for me due to the fact I do not use 3rd party plugins. This might be why some of us can load the page in decent time and while with others it freezes. Ads don't just suck because they make some money they suck due to the bandwidth they kill over. Should be illegal to have such bandwidth demanding ads. Another reason why I won't ever install a 3rd party plugin.

Takes about 10 seconds for me with cache cleard in IE6. I am in Minnesota, on 6 bonded T1's. Granted that is shared with about 4000 people, so take it for what its worth.

5 secs was my worst (yes, I cleared the cache). I'm at work in Upstate NY, I think we're rated at 7Mbps/2Mbps here, Opera 7.2
