Poll: Camry or a Stratus???

I've got to weigh in with the Camry, but I will warn you that I have a strong dislike for any car wearing the diamond-star logo (Chrysler Corp.). Chrysler has a reputation for building cars that keep running no matter what, but the interior knobs and buttond fall off after a year or two. Maybe things will get better now that Daimler-Bentz owns Chrysler, but that is a few years off at best.

camry. i worked in a detail shop for a year and i never once saw a dodge that i liked. i drove one and hated it. i drove a beat the hell up tercel (toyota) and it ran just fine with 170K miles on it. not that that matters with a rental...

So how many Chryco cars have you had ZV? My oldest is 13 years old and I haven't had a button fall off yet but... Also the "diamond-star" is usually used in realtion to diamond star motors, (namely mitsubishi and the like.) The actual name for the Chrysler logo on the older cars is the pentastar, now its just a flying wing I think......Anyway go for the stratus, from my experience I'd say it has more legroom!

I've got a '92 Camry with 140k on it (almost) and it still runs perfectly. All we've had to do to it is a little insignificant maintinance, never any engine/drivetrain work at all. The only complaint I could come up with is the window motors, they are a little weak. Not a problem unless you're using more than 2 windows/sunroof at once.

Also, if possible, get the v6. I don't know about later models but mine uses the same v6 as the 300 series Lexus (Toyota owns Lexus.) And it is very good (breaks 125mph easy, probably better, lousy stop signs) Sport mode is great for merging and general fastness.

Well enough advertisement from me. Toyota, my check better be in the mail!

Camry. Had one that went 220,000 miles, the next went to 155,000...

...and was stolen. I wanted to see it get to 200,000+ too. Damn car theieves. :|

Also - to those who are talking about reliability/longevity of the car - he's renting one of the two. Keep that in mind when you bring up how durable the car is

 

I like Camry's over Strati.

There have been a few Camrys in my family, since 1984. Big brother moved up to the Avalon.... man, is that a nice ride! Heh, he let me drive it and he hasn't even let his wife take it out.

Never drove a Stratus, but I can say great things about the Toyotas in my life.

Hard to beat Toyota's reliability, but if you're only renting it, get in both, see which one has the best stereo, then rent it!!
