Yea, and in the proper order;

1. Chevy
2. Ford (if they get lucky)
3. VW or whatever... doesn't matter

Your a fool if you think that means Crysler is bigger. GM is the biggest company in the World, thats the word.
If you think Chrysler is bigger you need to wake up ... open them eyes to world of Chevy ! (or something like that?)

"the 4.7liter overhead cam v-8 in the Jeeps and Durango's is actually a mercedes engine"

Take it from an ex-Jeep employee...

The 4.7l was designed long before (and even implemented before) the Daimler merger.

Thanks wingnut, thats what I thought but I didn't feel like looking to verify that info.

So Lance what are you using to define the biggest company? The one you like the most? If you think GM is the biggest company in the world, let alone the biggest in the car world....well then I'd like to sell some of what you're smoking and recommend that your parents sue the school district where you were raised.

Well, if you want to go further...

The 4.7l debuted in the '99 WJ (Grand Cherokee). The 4.7l in the '01 WJ has a hydraulic cooling fan... The first Daimler-Mercedes influence to hit Chrysler.

But Dodge is gonna OWN both of those mofos with the new Hemi based engines. Eat sh!t and die!!!

Maybe in the Small block but they have NO lineup to compete with Chevy's new 8.1 Litre. Also the new Duramax is only competed with by the Powerstroke. Hemi is not a Diesel engine.

BTW how did Dodge ever get into this thread? It's down to the big boys, the scene Dodge left back in the 70's when all the cool muscle cars went away.

If I was to ever buy a Jeep it would be pre-84, Get me some of that AMC action.

Dodge has a lot to desire right now, The 360 is their old reliable but it gets the least Power and worst milage of the 3 big trucks on the road.
The Viper is "Da Bomb" but other then that the middle car line is full of unreliable crap that blows smoke at every light. Like the Eagle Talon's and the Caravan's.

Now lets get back on to the ONLY 2 contenders Chevy vs. Ford, Ford has my Vote.

SVT, the talon has even been made in 3 years, and the caravan has never had major problems. Here is a link. Good examples.

Depends on the vehicle. I don't buy based on some long standing rivalry between ford and chevy. I buy a car based on whether or not I like it. For example, I own a Mustang GT because it looks nice and is a nice affordable sports car. I also like the Corvette, but it is not in my price range at the time. Given the price range of the Mustang GT and the Camaro rival, I would and did choose the Mustang. If I had the money, I would go for the Corvette.

For trucks: Chevy hands down, especially models with the turbodiesels

For cars: always been a toyota buyer

Man, I switched from being a diehard GM man to Ford after purchasing a 77 Bonneville. What a piece of sh!t! From top to bottom the design was a huge compromise. Replaced it with a 78 Grand Marquis and I've been a believer ever since.

I can't believe how many GM owners get burned with their lemons and yet keep going back to GM. Makes no sense to me. I get burned and I'm outta there. No second chances here!

I have no idea how GM has improved over the years. Don't even know if Ford is still putting out quality stuff. The only two vehicles I own are the 77 Lincoln and 88 E-150. No complaints about those two mofos what-so-ever! Maybe I'll give GM another chance if I ever get burned by one of my next Ford purchases. And my next purchase WILL be Ford. I'd be stupid to change after the phenomenal good luck I've had with Ford over the last 20 years.

And I can't comment on the little go-karts from either company. I wouldn't doubt that Chrysler makes the better FWD buggies. Just don't know and truly don't care.

As far as trucks, I had a friend with an 83 Chevy that ruined the cam in a 307ci at only 80K miles. Makes no sense that GM would screw up an engine like that after they'd been building it for like 30 years. But it was par from what I'd experienced with that friggen 301ci in the Bonneville. His auto tranny also puked at about 100K as well as many other small problems. Unreal.

Our shop had fantastic luck with the Ford 3/4 ton and flatbed that were purchased in 88 and 80 respectively. Over 200K on each with very, very few repairs during their service. They were both still running fine when finally sold. They of course were replaced with new Fords because of the excellent service from the first ones.

Tell ya what I would like to buy from GM. A nice big full frame RWD Fleetwood with a 350ci. Ya think I could find one? Nope. For some reason GM dicked around with all kinds of weird engines and 4,6,8 computer controlled crap on those cars. STUPID! No problem. I can still find normally aspirated Town Cars with hulking 460ci and C6 trannys. I love the style of the Caddies, but fvck those bogus engines!

Jeez, it's like picking the lesser of two evils
Chevy/GM, only because of their F Bodies and the Corvette. Ford only has the Stang, which doesn't compare to the Camaro IMO. But if it were a battle of the big 3, I'd have to go with Chrysler (Mopar or no car, my man), great innovators and have had some great cars in the past!

IMHO chevy falls into the "ok" category. since we're a 2 Ford truck/1 Mercury car family i'd have to say FORD.
