Poll: Legos

I can't begin to imagine how much time I spent playing with Lego as a kid. My dad grew up on Erector sets and tried to get me into those, but I always preferred Lego.

I still have all my bricks from childhood and two 35 gallon rubbermaid containers of nothing but Star Wars Lego. Admittedly, most of those sets were purchased for display purposes, but if I found them cheap enough I would but multiples of the smallers sets so I could incorporate them into diorama like scenes from the movies using whatever else I had.

I also built a computer case entirely out of Lego while in college (still have it too)

I recently used the majority of my bulk bricks to build some oversized alphabet blocks for my new nephew. They're mainly for decoration now as they were stacked to spell his name, but when he gets a little older we can always make more to play with.

Hell ya! I loved em when I was a kid. I took a class in college where we programmed the mindstorms using C, it was awesome.

Loved the shit out of them as a child. Today, at 29, my hobby is collecting unopened Lego sets from that era (1980s). Luckily I have a longtime GF who is ok with this.

Loved legos when I was a kid. I still love legos, even though the K'Nex commercials almost lured me away.

I teach a science class over the summer to a bunch of kids. One summer, we gave the project winners a set of legos. The kids had no clue what it was and were rather disappointed in the prize. What a shame. I should have given them $5 and kept the prizes.

LOL, So true. When I was a kid It was mainly LEGO, little green army men, hot wheels cars, and GI Joe. This was way before video games existed.

You do know that "Lego" is equally wrong in this context, right? Lego bricks is the only acceptable official way of saying it. Both Legos and Lego are common popular abbreviations that are equally correct. So get off your high horse.

Been playing with that idea myself, they seem to be taking some of the old kits and remaking them for the 'new market'.

Loved the dang things, still remember how much fun it was playing with the auqatech series in the bath/pool.

Sigh... Such good memories?

Under 55 and I never really got into Legos. My favorite building toys were American Bricks, Kenner Girder and Panel, Bridge and Turnpike sets, Lincoln Logs, and Erector sets (that name would never work today). You could build stuff like a windmill with the Erector set and actually hook it up to a Jensen steam engine to run it.

I started off with the castle collection. Man, good times! I remember starting off with the bandits and their tree hideout then expanding to the castle on the hill (which housed the red knights). There was another castle, a larger one that housed black and blue knights.
