Lego's rocked. I remember when I was 7 or 8 my Dad built a replica of Airwolf, freestyle, out of my Legos. This was before they had "kits" and shit for various things. I thought he was a God among men for that.

A huge, kick ass multi colored brick Airwolf

Legos are awesome. I always prefered (still prefer, actually) the freestyle buckets to themed sets. I'm saving up legos for my next PC build. Need to by another 2,000 pieces or so and I'm good to go

Hell yes I did! And hell yes I did! I still have all my sets up in the attic. The old castles and ships were my favorite ones.

Yes, and when we were kids there were none of these stupid model kits. You actually had to use your imagination, which made them a much better toy.

Lincoln Logs were good for one thing - building see-saws to launch the logs at your enemies across the classroom.

My nephews grew up with the kits. They would build the model, and stick them on their shelves never to be touched. They have dozens each, including the giant ones and huge Star Wars models.

One day we took apart all the models and mixed all the pieces in some rubbermade crates (they filled four large crates!). The kids were confused at first, but they began to play with them constantly... and never stopped... even up into high school they had fun playing with Legos with their much younger brother and sister.

If you want a model, buy a plastic/metal model kit and go for realism and detail. Building blocks are for imagination, not conformity, dammit.

When I was a kid? Hell my 7yr old son and I build and rebuild nearly every day.
And that picture in the OP? He's a little young for it now, but I'm saving that for when he's older to appreciate it because it is 100% spot-on. Holy shit nothing is more frustrtating. We have them separated in their own bins by color now though so that helps somewhat. (thanks to my wife who was sick of me swearing).

Yes. I rarely had a model kit that was mentioned in the above post and I am only 22. I mostly imagined things and built them. It was a lot of fun.

Yes, I steal a set every time I go to the toy store 'cause Legos are expensive and we didn't have any money for toys.
