Metallica was the first heavy metal band I started to listen to back when I was 13, I still love there older stuff but some of the new stuff is dissapointing, I only need an original copy of GARAGE DAYS and LOAD to complete my collection.

I would download five copies of every song they've ever made just to spite them but my revulsion overpowers my sense of spite.

Ok, take away their history of formerly being one of the greatest metal bands of all time and take their music for what it's worth; it's right down there with nickleback, godsmack, and any whiney voiced, pointy haired boy band calling themselvs "punk rockers!" It's crap; it's banal, insignificant, rambling, incoherent, self aggrandized, high fructose corn syrup with just a HINT of Nyquil.

While they do kick ass in concert, ever since the Napster thing (where they showed their true colors), I've lost respect for them. While the symphony thing was interesting, the Ja Rule thing was horrible.

first of all, it's Whiskey in the jar-o," not "gyro," and secondly, that song is a cover of a Thin Lizzy song, which rocks hard.

Oh, and while Newsted may have a great guy, neither him nor Trujillo can even hold a candle to Cliff Burton. That man was a machine on the bass, and wrote the best riffs ever. His death was the single most pivotal event in Metallica's career and is what started them on their downfall. If Cliff were still alive, I have no doubt that would still be writing music like RtL and MoP.

James' voice isn't what it used to be. It was fine through Re-Load, but I think all those concerts have taken it's toll on his voice. I saw them for the 10th time a few months ago, and he sounds nowhere near as good as he used to be.

Bob Rock needs to go as well.

From what I heard, james actually blew out his vocal cords during the Black tour, and needed to hire a voice trainer to retrain his voice, and ever since that it hasn't been the same. The production on Load and Reload were what saved him, but it's obvious in concerts that his voice isn't what it used to be.
