Yep, let's wait to see what tidbits NV makes sure show Anand knows about so they end up interspersed throughout his HD5xxx review.

Intel usually does a good job of this whenever AMD has an new cpu product to be reviewed (just for ab example of what I am going to be looking for), and I'd expect no less of NV.

Now as others have said, if NDA lift-date comes and goes and there is no sabre rattling from NV headquarters (not to be confused with the guaranteed sabre rattling of NV fans) then we got ourselves some tea leaves and animal entrails to start pushing around in attempt to prognosticate something about what the future NV NDA lift-date holds.

I voted that they are silent because they are behind... though I think they could have the part out by the end of the year, not necessarily Q1 or after. They're reminding me of the Radeon 2900XT launch, though I think Nvidia will have plenty of performance when they launch (unlike the underwhelming 2900) though I see them being late to the game.

If Nvidia had a part in the very near future I think now would be the time for them to make some noise about it knowing that AMD's 58x0 is right around the corner.

Agreed. If nVid is late but significantly faster (which is what I, personally, expect) then they just need to leak specs and/or benchmarks when AMD launches.

If they are later and hotter and faster they can work with that. If they were are later and slower AND hotter they're screwed.

A significant wild card is what happens with Intel between now and nVid's launch.

Beats me, I haven't seen any benchmarks of it yet. But I doubt we can simply take Nvidia's word on it when they also make statements like the one I quoted.

it's not that, we just know that rate at which the number of execution units is growing is slightly faster than the radeons. everything after that is going to be speculative, but that is quite a hint.

I think Nvidia will paper launch (or spec leak) at or around Amd's launch to take some sales from AMD. I also think the gt360 will compete with the 5870. There top of the line gtx380 will cost much more then the 5870 and outperform it by at least 20%. Nvidia's hard release? Somewhere between windows 7 and Thanksgiving.

So yes, there unusual silence tells me there hiding something, and it's a monster.

I believe the 8800GT came out late November in '07 and was difficult to find and I think this will be a similar launch. Obviously the GX2 version will be at least late spring to early summer of 2010. That's my slightly educated WAG. lol

8800gt actually had very good supply, it was just such a great card at such a great price that everybody and his dog wanted one. Many many people sold their 8800gtx for an 8800gt and lots of $$. It was a $250 card that was faster than the $400 8800gts 640 and 2900xt. Ati THOUGHT that they had a winner with the 3870, but 8800gt just blew it away.

So basically that means their saying a 129.00 GTS250 could outpace a 5870 in a PhysX game. Well, duh!!! But did you interpret that to mean that you think Nvidia won't have anything soon to compete, so will offer GTS250's as a direct competitor? hehehehe.

Welllllllll the NV30 was bigger, more complex, expected be faster, and Nvidia said it would be faster. It also came out after ATI's launch back then

I have no idea. There's no confirmed information and no benchmarks so how fast it is is completely up in the air. I'm just playing devil's(ATI's) advocate. It could be faster, it could be slower. I think when it comes out and the price tag is probably every bit as important as how fast it is.

I find this thread fascinating, and good job on keeping the fanboys out. Throughly enjoyed reading everyones speculations. It'll be an interesting fall season this year to see ATI and Nvidia battle it out.
