<< They both suck, I refuse to vote. >>

jaydee, to find a candidate you can vote your conscience for, Go Here. At the very least by voting for a third-party candidate you send the message "enough! i want real candidates and I will vote for them when they run!". If you don't vote at all you send the messgae "i'm apathetic! keep giving me fluffy candidates because I'm not gonna bother looking for anything better". Which message do you want to send?

though I'm for Gore, Jellybaby makes a good point-why don't you just vote nader, try to get him to 5%, which I believe will get him some added recognition along the lines of federal funding...someone please tell me if that's accurate?

somethingwitty,

good thought there...I'm not sure if Nader takes federal funding...I know Browne (libertarians) does not. But you mentioned getting a party to 5% (actually 15% or 20% is ideal) and this is important. Perot was "allowed" (gee thanks Rs and Ds) to participate in the '96 debate only because the reform party got to 15% of the national popular vote! Stupid, sure, but here at least we must play the system in order to change it.

JellyBaby,

Nader suckles at the government teat just like the rest of them. Browne is the ONLY candidate on the ballot from any of the third parties that refuses to take matching funds.

Perot was shut out of the 1996 debates because he didn't make the 15% cut. The 15% is not based on votes, but rather the use of 5 "recognized" polls in the period leading up to the debate. It was '92 that he participated.

You may be confusing this with the 5% vote threshhold that automatically puts a party on the ballot in the next cycle without the need for petitions.

Bush is not the best but he is the best to run the country right now. We don't need a lying coward to run the country. Remember Reaganomic? All the good that he did, now is showing up and Clinton just enjoy the great effect and did nothing but shoot his cannon at Monica while his wife will try to run for president after the next four years. Remember guys, any great governmental good doing won't take effect until the next 10 years or so. The surplus and low unemployment rate right now is Reaganomic
To vote correctly, you must watch what they did and not what they said or saying. When all that said and done, Clinton has done nothing for this country but introduce a new meaning of scandals and modern communism.

Nader is not great. All he does is say bad things about the other two but he would favor Bush a little more.

The real person I want to vote for is me. If I am president, then I promise free hardware to all of my Anandtech members regardless of your status. But I will pick out base on your status. You must be within the middle class though. I will stop welfare all together to make all of those lazy A$$ to work. If not I will send them to the Middle East and let them get shot. Without welfare there won't be so much taxes and more free hardware for all.

Oy, Russ, you're right it was the '92 debate but I thought even back then the stupid federal bi-partison debate commission required a 15% showing in the polls (obviously not the presidential election day national polls, oy.). I also remember that group of fine folks saying all a third-party needs to do is prove they have a believable chance of winning. Today, since there are other third-parties like Vader's and Browne's showing in national polls this reduces the numbers overall for any single party, the Debate Kinds can effectively shut all of them out. Nuts, nuts!

Bush.... and Russ is correct, Nader is no diferent than the others. If it would help Gore (which I think it will ) I would vote for Browne.

JellyBaby:

You keep telling everyone to vote their conscience. Isn't it crystal clear to you by now that tekkies don't HAVE a conscience?

So, I'll vote for Gore. I'm not going to waste my vote, or get my conscience remotely involved.
