Naked screens feel so much better than even expensive screen protectors.

On my smartphones, I prefer a little texture or resistance over how smooth, unprotected glass feels.

They kind of remind me of those wierd people who have plastic covers on their sofa or car seats.

The difference between my grandparents and me is that they never intended on selling the furniture they covered - they just liked the idea of keeping it looking new at the expense of actually enjoying it.

For me, the screen protector actually enhances my experience AND keeps the screen pristine for resale.

But seriously, screen protectors make my phone worse 100% of the time, to prevent the chance of a scratch occurring. But honestly I think I'd rather deal with the occasional scratch instead of the peeling, sticky, blurry screen protector constantly.

I just think you had a bad screen protector. Normally they shouldn't peel or become blurry/sticky

In the context of my smartphone screens, I prefer whatever my current antiglare screen protector is made of (I like it a lot better than the non-antiglare one I had previously).

However, that may not remain true in a different context.

I am unaware of any smartphone screens that are made out of aluminum, so I do not have an opinion regarding that.

I always put a Zagg on any new phone I get. As an avid golfer, I keep my phone in my bag(in a small padded soft pocket by itself), and if any sort of sand gets in there(guaranteed) you're gonna have hairline scratches. It happened to the one phone I didn't put a protector on, so never again will I not. There's no such thing as scratch proof plastic/glass. Unless it's diamond, I suppose?

Always used a pouch type case to protect the screen and entire phone when in the pocket. More layers between your eyes and the screen will always reduce the image quality / brightness / sharpness.

I used the Flip Cover for my S3 for a while. Neat idea but a bit bulky. Nearly dropped the phone several times when trying to pry the flap off. Since getting the extended 3000 mah battery, it's back to a neoprene pouch again.

Of course it can. From what I've read and experienced, however, the level of scratch resistance for GG embossed phones is far higher than the level of other.

Of course it can. However, my preference is to not have to constantly wipe fingerprints off of my screen.

All 5 seconds, every other day, that it takes to wipe my phone's screen off has really taken a toll on my free-time. You're right! I want those 20 minutes of my life back.

How often do you slide your sunglasses into your pocket?

Never. Which makes me wonder what your pockets are made out of or what they're filled with? Sunglasses aren't meant to placed into pockets per se, so this is a poor example.

More often than I'd care to admit (the lenses are changeable and while doing so, my fingerprints get all over them). So, in my particular case: often. They also go on my head, which means they get small amounts of gel and sweat on them. Which means I need to clean them. Another poor example, because I like to have very clean sunglasses; the same as I like to have a visible, fingerprint clear, screen. A screen protector isn't going to be the answer for me here. I've tried it, and the negatives outweigh the positives of what limited anti-smudge protection they offer.

Also, when I am not using my sunglasses, I put them in a case or the built-in holder in the car.

In other words, I think your attempt to compare smartphones with sunglasses failed.

Your pocket should be similar to a case: it's cloth or a similarly soft material that's non-abrasive. Unless you do laundry once a year, or put your phone in your pocket with your keys and have random screws, roofing nails, and tons of other damaging objects, I don't see this being a failure in comparison in the context of glass protection.

That is what we're comparing, right? Glass protection? Just because sunglasses don't typically go in pockets doesn't mean their validity of receiving damage is null and void for comparitive purposes. Pockets aren't the only scratch producing agents out there in the world; contrary to the opinion of whoever persuaded you to believe such. I think you just hate pockets. Pocket hater. :\

I use a screen protector, but constantly cleaning the grease off it using a facial tissue or a small microfiber cloth. It is quite annoying...

Thank you. Looked up the web and looks like Spigen brand is popular for glass screen protectors. The only thing that stops me from changing it is that I hate the process of applying one and am no good at it. The current one I have was put on by the guy at costco.

They are popular but expensive. Nowadays I get mine on Ebay for $10 average. Just don't get any that covers sensors.

The only thing that stops me from changing it is that I hate the process of applying one and am no good at it. The current one I have was put on by the guy at costco.

That is part of the magic with glass- no long-term bubbles from a bad install. The big bubbles you can easily work out and the little ones get filled in with sticky stuff overnight.

I've got a protector for my friend's Note 3. A company called "iSmooth" sells them @Amazon and they were perhaps one of the best protectors I have seen and I am thinking about trying it out on my Nexus 5 despite my previous resolve on not using screen protectors. I have not tried those tempered-glass protectors.

iSmooth is really nice for cheap. Tempered glass protectors are also great, but they cost anywhere from 35-60$ -- I had one for my iPad, but.. never again. Spending that much on a screen protector is obscene.

ive used them on all my phones since the omnia. i use mine more for work than anything else, and i work in some pretty dusty, dirty and gritty places. id hate to get an actual scratch on the screen,it would seem bigger than it was once i noticed it, and would piss me off more and more every time i saw it.

i have tried the matte vs normal ones, and so far i prefer the normal ones. the matte ones seemed to act as a filter, and give me weird artifacts and color changes on the screen. when i cracked the screen on my razr maxx, i took the protector off and used it like that until i replaced it with the sgs4, but it really wasnt all that different from using it with the protector on to me. the sgs4 had one as well, and it was pretty well scratched up after a month of use. i go through screen protectors fairly quickly, good thing they are cheap and supplied by my work. i have the note 3 now, it has a protector on it, and so far it hasnt bothered me.

Which glass screen protector did you use on you Nexus 5?

The one being recommended by everyone has crap ratings and looks to have been pulled by either Amazon or the manufacturer did so themselves voluntarily.
