If they are going to keep trying to Ban smoking. They need to make tobacco illegal! It is totally B.S.

They want to BAN it, but they are more than happy to tax the hell out of tobacco!

I live in Minnesota where certain Counties have started a No Smoking policy.

Hundreds of business' have closed directly related to the no smoking ban.

Many of these business' had implimented $10K + Air cleaning systems, and are now out every penny!

It should be up to the owner of the business if they want to allow smoking or not..
If you dont like smoke, you can choose to go to a non-smoking place.

And yes, I am a smoker!

I'm in TN. We're close to tobacco growers (in this state and especially NC&VA).

Most restaurants and bars allow smoking. However, a bar at the end of my street opened up a month ago. Smoke-free.....the place is packed all the time.

Exactly, let the bar owners decide. Besides, with these smoking bans, an owner doesn't even have the option to have a smoking section. I've set up these sections before, they keep negative pressure in the smoking rooms, so all air flows in. There is near zero amounts of 2nd hand smoke. I don't see why they don't allow that.

People who are smoking keep forgetting this one fact - the more you smoke the more likely you'll die a horrible horrible death at an earlier age.

I say let them keep smoking. Darwin will be a knockin'

There's a guy- I don't know if you've heard about this guy, he's been on the news a lot lately. There's a guy- he's English, I don't think we should hold that against him, but apparently this is just his life's dream because he is going from country to country. He has a senate hearing in this country coming up in a couple of weeks. And this is what he wants to do.

He wants to make the warnings on the packs bigger. Yeah! He wants the whole front of the pack to be the warning. Like the problem is we just haven't noticed yet. Right? Like he's going to get his way and all of the sudden smokers around the world are going to be going, "Yeah, Bill, I've got some cigarettes.. HOLY ******! These things are bad for you! ******, I thought they were good for you! I thought they had Vitamin C in them and stuff!" You ****** dolt!

Doesn't matter how big the warnings are. You could have cigarettes that were called the warnings. You could have cigarrets that come in a black pack, with a skull and a cross bone on the front, called tumors and smokers would be lined up around the block going, "I can't wait to get my hands on these ****** things! I bet you get a tumor as soon as you light up! Numm Numm Numm Numm Numm" Doesn't matter how big the warnings are or how much they cost. Keep raising the prices, we'll break into your houses to get the ****** cigarettes, ok!? They're a drug, we're addicted, ok!? Numm Numm Numm Numm Numm *wheeze*

Absolutly, smoking also needs to be banned out doors, some places here are already doing that. Banning smoking outside. The only legal place to smoke is in your own house or backyard.

Nearly all (99+%) smoking related deaths happen LONG after breeding age.

What you are calling a pan in public places isn't that. A ban in public places is one that bans smoking in outdoor and indoor public places, such as no smoking on sidewalks, parks, streets, ect. Only two places in the nation have that, Calabasas and Santa Monica, CA.

Exactly what I mentioned above. Just because a private business is open to the public, doesn't mean it is public. We have to remember who owns the property, so we can figure out who calls the shots. Public = collectively owned by all taxpayers.

But, it is restricted to some cities (Champaign Urbana area right now), and those cities are kind of being used as guinea pigs for (possibly) a state-wide public smoking ban. I think it's a great idea because harm to the public from your own actions should be avoided. On private property, the state shouldn't have much, if any, say on what people do-as long as it's their property or they have permission from the owner. But, there should be a law on smoking at home if you have children, because they are very susceptible to damage from second hand smoking.

If you want to harm yourself, go ahead. The law shouldn't have to intervene there. Just don't harm others in the process.

Absolutely agree. I'm a smoker, but I leave the table or any public place to do my bidding. I have no problems with that, I regard that as common courtesy.

I don't bowl anymore, mainly because of the smokers. The local bowling centers have gone smoke-free on the weekends. If they move that to the weeknight leagues, I'll probably start back.
When I bowled, every single night I'd get home and change clothes....my clothes literally smelled like an ashtray. Can't imagine what my lungs must have looked like.

So yes, I'd love to see a ban on smoking in all public places.
