hehe, pretty lame, but I thought I'd post it and se what everyone else has to say.

Let's think for a second here, without AMD, Intel would cost soo much. We'd be paying around $3,000 (or more) just for a p4. I mean, with no competition, nothing is stopping them. People would have to unload their wallet (or purse ) just to get a decent computer.

When AMD arrived, however, Intel was forced to lower their prices because AMD was cheap and good. I still think Intel is too pricey, considering you can get (around) the same performance for a couple $100 less.

"I'd rather stick a cow in my computer and let it run"

hmm... I wonder how good that'll do... Just thought I'd make that a possible answer.

I voted for the Cow because I really don't give a damn. Both can run 100% reliably under appropriate conditions on a well built system. I'll buy whichever offers the best price/performance ratio.

I'm running Intel because Intel offered a better price.perormance when I purchased my motherboard and it was more cost efficient to upgrade to a P3 and use my existing mobo then buy a new T-Bird and a new motherboard, and a new PowerSupply as my current one wouldnt provide enough power for a T-Bird.

If I was buying fresh now I'd buy AMD as it offers a better price/performance ratio at the moment.

For now, the answer is AMD, in the past it was Intel, and in the future it may go back to Intel.
Brand loyalty is foolish, anyone that favors one company at all costs is only hurting themselves.

Rand, you're a funny man.

Cows are good... Don't require a power supply, as they can run on their own milk (or so I've heard from reliable sources). And you don't have to unlock anything (as it has no caches). you can OC as much as you like.

Today it a very foolish to buy a P4. Athlon4, DDR, nForce chipset, SiS735 chipset, ect..
Blow's away anything Intel has coming out.

Haha... i'm thinking of using a cow, actually. It's free and would save me $75 or something on a processor. Also, it's quite fast.

Hope you remember you have to clean up after a cow.

Been using AMD procs since the days of the 386 and have yet to have one fail. Cant say the same about Intel but then 1 failure since day one isnt much. Bang for buck - AMD

There is some serious laws regarding remarking cows. And you're lucky if it's the cops that catch you.

Umm... that statement confilicts with the fact that: AMD came up because of Intel... Intel was here before, and AMD was sparked and produced a great competition with Intel, thus forcing them to lower their prices.

And if Intel collapsed you can bet AMD's prices would shoot up right to where Intel's used to be in the day's of the P2... ie. $900 for the top of the line processors, and nothing below $500 or so except the budegt Celeron's.

Yeah, but Intel isn't going to collapse in the foreseeable future. Most (if not all) businesses still buy from Intel, as they have much more experience and are more reliable. So Intel is still loading up in the cash department .
