You'll have to forgive them. They've been using this inferior and painfull software for so long that when something like Firefox comes along and they figure out it's a good thing they have to celebrate threads like this.

It'll calm down after a while. Then when IE 7.0 comes out in a couple years or so, there will be fights and arguements all over again.

Such is life.

Anyways. It's not as bad as it seems, I have 43 different anandtech accounts and I aways be sure to log in as each and every one of these browser threads and talk about how wonderfull Firefox is. but mostly I just vote.

You do realize that crazybrowser is just a wrapper app for IE right? I agree that firefox's tabs could be improved, but it's still in beta so I'll reserve small complaints like that till 1.0

you can not drag and drop tabs
you can not change where new tabs are created
you dont have two keys for next and previous tab
you can not have it create a new tab each time you enter a new page in the address bar

IE is a browser of choice for very few people. For probvably 90% of the people surfing the web IE just 'is', there was no choice involved with it, and if they knew that other browsers existed, they may very well choose them.

Most, even tech savy people, continue to use IE because you don't have to install it. Its just there.

moving around I mean changing the order of the tabs, for example I have anandtech in tab nr1, hardocp in tab nr2 and then bbc in tab nr3 but I want to move tab nr3 so it moves to tab2

last time I tried the tabbrowser extensions (1-2 months ago) it didnt have this feature, might have changed now

didnt know about that thanks, can you change the keys for this? i love how they have it in crazybrowser, f2 for previous and f3 for next, gotten used to one keypress

see nr2 .... must check it out

Ok, solves the moving around thing then, just drag them to whereever you want them to be.

I've been using TBE for some time, and the options I have(and have always had, as far as I can remember anyway) are Left of current, Far left, or same but right.

Don't know if you can change the keys for moving through tabs, I'm used to them, so I don't mind how they are now, in other words, find out yourself

I  Avant Browser

Renders everything that IE renders, blocks everything you could possibly want to block, tabs as you like them, skinnable, dockable... man I'm getting light-headed.

I am surprised how few people use IE shells like Avant.
If one is going to use the dreaded IE, i would think that it would be best to go with Avant or Maxthon or Crazy rather than IE itself.

The other great thing about this poll is that many people have tried both Opera & Firefox (like myself), & still prefer Firefox

I'm actually surprised Firefox blew away the competition so easily. I still think Opera beats the snot out of it. They're both great though, so neither one is a bad choice.

Firefox by itself is pretty basic, for faster loading. Its appeal lies the strength of open source, most noticeable in its extensions. I currently use a tab extension that has everything you just listed as features.

Even complete newbies pick up Firefox rather easily. And all the popups, worms, freezing of IE is gone. Firefox is just more efficient to use.

Of course IE's strength AND weakness is its popularity. Every page renders correctly in IE, since its dominance makes it some kind of standard. At the same time, every adware, spyware, worm, etc is directed at IE since everyone uses it.
