Yah, I guess so. Oh well. Hey, whoever voted for the Linux being the crappiest software, could you give your reasoning behind it?

Windows ME is fine for me. Although it was a cheap way for Microsoft to make more money it is still a fine piece of programming and is perfectly stable for me. It was the cheapest OS I could buy back when I put together my system.
Windows Media Player is sooooo slow. I don't see anything wrong with the interface though.
I have no problem with Quicktime.
I don't use Linux.
RealPlayer BLOWS HARD!
I voted for Gator though, just because it is totally useless and steals your info and crap like that.

That's like saying in the trenches, will the man who keeps shooting the mortar shells please identify himself?

Hmm, ok. I can see that. How about this. Will people list some viable reasons why Linux should be considered the crappiest software made. Though "not very user-friendly" is a legit excuse. It show's more weakness in the user willingness to learn than the software itself.

You beat my slow butt to it. At least Real Player is getting what it deserves, although I think adding WinMe to the list is also very justifiable.

Man, I was just about to select RealPlayer but then I saw Windows ME. I HAD to select ME.

Never in my LIFE have I hated a piece of software more than this pile of crap.

I had it on a dual boot machine and ended up switching back to 98SE. It also caused me NOTHING but trouble with the family and friends that like to use me as their tech support. I have recently told all ME users that call me for problems that I will no longer help them unless they allow me to do a clean install of XP on their machines.

Yes, it really IS that bad.

Windows ME but winamp takes too many resources, wish there was a better program with as many features and a smaller footprint on a system.

A year ago, I would have told you that ICQ was a great program and RealPlayer was a product of the nether world. Today, RealOne isn't that bad. I only installed it because my school streams lectures in Real format. Other than having to give it an email address to use the program, it doesn't seem as intrusive as previous versions of RealPlayer. And, I used to use ICQ all the time, but it just got bigger and more bloated, and now everyone I know at least uses AIM, so I've switched over.

Quicktime and Winamp are both fine, and WMP version 6 is God... and 7 is OK.

Notice the wink

EDIT: BTW, is it true IIS 6.0 is being written using a lot of Apache code?

Realplays, followed by WMP 7, then Windows ME. A few people in my school thought ME ws the coolest thing when they bought it. I was ready to kill them. I hate microsoft loyalists, especially ones who know nothing about software. :disgust:

Heh, they wish. Apache will always be better than IIS. While Microsoft is busy trying to make IIS run in the kernel, Apache just gets better and better. IIS might run faster in lab benchmarks because they do stupid, insecure things for the sake of performance. Apache just plain rocks as far as flexibility and use of configuration goes. What I used to have to do with 100's of lines of ISAPI code and arcane registry settings, I can do with a couple of text-based config tweaks in Apache.

Same goes for Linux. Sure it's a total bitch to learn and the device support is lacking. But hell, I would never use any Microsoft system as a router or network device now that I know how to utilize Linux. I can totally control 100% of my network remotely using both CLI and GUI via SSH. With Windows I would have all these hokey protocols and that stupid PC-Anywhere clone built into XP. No thanks.

Microsoft may control the desktop, but when it comes to networking and servers I would trust someone who took to time to learn Linux over some aspiring air-conditioning repairman who one day decided to take the MCSE exam.
